House of Leaves

imbrii, you dear, sweet child, I totally hate you.

I read 600 pages of House of Leaves last night, because there was no way I was going to be able to sleep until I finished it. And when I finally did finish- at 7am- I'm just lucky that it was starting to get light, or I would have had to sleep with the lights on. Even then, I had to have a few minutes discussion with myself before I could turn them off.

'I can turn off the lights. I can do this. Really.'
'But... but... it'll be dark!'
'I'm not five. I don't need to sleep with the lights on.'
'Just this once.'
'No.'
'... I wish the roommate were here.'

I did, finally, turn them off (yes, thank you, thank you, I'm so proud of myself), but that accomplishement is rather lessened by the approaching dawn. So, to everyone else: Go read House of Leaves! That book rocks.

Well, I would read it, but I'm a major wimp about scary things. So just pretend I read it and spent a few hours huddling under the covers of my bed with the lights on, freaking out everytime the bushes scraped against the walls of bedroom behind me and making noises that sound like someone's trying to get in). Okay? ^_^
