House of Leaves

imbrii, you dear, sweet child, I totally hate you.

I read 600 pages of House of Leaves last night, because there was no way I was going to be able to sleep until I finished it. And when I finally did finish- at 7am- I'm just lucky that it was starting to get light, or I would have had to sleep with the lights on. Even then, I had to have a few minutes discussion with myself before I could turn them off.

'I can turn off the lights. I can do this. Really.'
'But... but... it'll be dark!'
'I'm not five. I don't need to sleep with the lights on.'
'Just this once.'
'No.'
'... I wish the roommate were here.'

I did, finally, turn them off (yes, thank you, thank you, I'm so proud of myself), but that accomplishement is rather lessened by the approaching dawn. So, to everyone else: Go read House of Leaves! That book rocks.
