brigdh: (how do you like your blue-eyed boys)

Oh god, someone make me stop reading Swordspoint fanfic and actually go do something worthwhile before the day is over.

Particularly since I've only managed to find, like, two pieces worth reading. Where are the porny epics? Where are the crack AUs? Where are the deliciously twisted drabbles and reinc fics and gen adventure stories and song fics and dramatic rescues and terrible character introspection pieces? Where, in fact, is anything but yet another badly written first-time?

This book is far too popular to have a nonexistent fandom, dammit.

Quite a few (http://www.yuletidetreasure.org/cgi-bin/search.cgi?ShortResults=0&Recipient=&Title=&Recipient_Range=0&Title_Range=0&Author=&Author_Range=0&Fandom=678&Summary=&Date=0&SortBy=0&SortOrder=0&NumToList=0&FastSearch=0) Swordspoint stories have been written for Yuletide. Doing a search for it on fanfiction.net also turns up some surprisingly readable (http://www.fanfiction.net/search.php?field=summary&plus_keywords=swordspoint&x=0&y=0&fidomido=1) stories, given the site they're on.

As for terrible character introspection pieces, I wrote one back in 2004 (http://archive.skyehawke.com/story.php?no=1843).

I know that [livejournal.com profile] harukami's written some good stuff, and there are a few people on my friends list who I think have written for the fandom. I'll have to dig a bit to find those, though.

Hee, Yuletide was the first place I thought to look, and then I went to those author's websites and started following links outward.

But the rest of these are new to me! Thank you so much.

Oh! and I have to say that I like your story very much. That's really a neat take on Richard's childhood; I love the idea.

Clearly you should stop procrastinating by reading Swordpoint fanfic and procrastinate by writing some yourself.
