brigdhOkay, I just heard: I've been offically accepted into NYU, with full funding through the Maccracken fellowship (that page is slightly out-of-date, as I'm getting a bit more, but it's the closest I could find).
Why is no one home so I can squee at them?!

Date: 2006-03-01 03:09 am (UTC)I'm still waiting to hear, I suppose; I haven't yet heard anything from UPenn, and though I know I got into Wisconsin, their funding is done on a separate schedule, and so I don't know anything about how I've done with that, though NYU wins about a million bonus points by simple virtue of being in, you know, New York and not a tiny city in Wisconsin.
At the moment I'm just in shock! I can't imagine making such a big decision; I keep thinking that six months ago I was sitting on a rock in Nevada and telling someone, "Yeah, I'm not really sure what I want to do. I guess I'll need to look up grad schools as soon as I get back to civilization" and now this!

But the more I think about it, the more appealing it sounds; I mean, if I intend to work in academia, I won't have much control over where I live for most of my life- I'll have to go to whatever university hires me. So the chance to live in New York for five or six years, regardless of anything else, is incredibly tempting.
