I grabbed Tsuzuki for the character soundtracks over at [livejournal.com profile] fst, and I was just wondering: does anyone have any song recs for him? It'd be particularly helpful if you had some happy ones, but any would be good, really. And feel free to rec shippy songs too- Tatsumi/Tsuzuki, Muraki/Tsuzuki, Hisoka/Tsuzuki, whatever.

^^ Any suggestions?

"The Fine Art of Falling Apart" by Matthew Good Band has always struck me as rather Tsuzuki/Hisoka from Tsuzuki's POV. Also, MGB's "Weapon," which I find inspirational for a lot of my fandoms, but which works stunningly well for any Shinigami.

The Vienna Teng song Boni used in her music vid, the name of which I don't think I've ever learned. "Overcome?" The Go-Gos' cover of "I Want Candy," for really goofy crack!addled Tsuzuki/Hisoka.

The Smashing Pumpkins' "Disarm," of course. A-ha's "Scoundrel Days" is another one that could work pretty well for several of the Shinigami. Also, Counting Crows' "'Round Here."

It's a start.

The Vienna Teng song is "Momentum," but if you want something slightly less familiar but still Tsuzuki/Hisoka, I'd go with "Gravity."

My favorite Vienna Teng song for Tsuzuki/Hisoka has always been "Eric's Song", but nearly all of her music can be applied to one couple or another.

The vid was called Momentum, I just wasn't sure the song was as well. Thanks for letting me know!

"Gravity" is gorgeous, but I always think of it as being from Hisoka's POV, which is why I didn't mention it.

I think of the verse with "these are the scars that silence carved on me" as Hisoka's verse and the one with "these are the scars that words have carved on me" as Tsuzuki's verse, and the last as both of them. But I can see why you'd think of the whole thing as Hisoka, because that works, too.

Huh, I never thought to divide it up that way. Listening to it with this in mind has just given me shivers, so I'd have to say it definitely works. You're good.

It also works as Tsuzuki/Hisoka/Tatsumi, if you're into that sort of thing. Which I am. *coff* Specifically, "Hey, love, that's the name we've long held back from the core of truth." Not sure why that pings as Tatsumi for me, but it does.

Oo, good songs. I hadn't heard of the MGB ones before, but they do work very well. And hee- the cover of "I Want Candy" cracks me up. Defintley downloading these.

I have a shload of MGB, they have some truly excellent songs. Try "Fated" for a good Hisoka song, if you're inclined. And yeah, I always liked the sound of "I Want Candy," but when I heard the Go-Gos' version, the shift in pronouns made me love it.

Thank you!

And you know, if you happen to have a lot of Hisoka-songs, [livejournal.com profile] yasminm is collecting recs to make a soundtrack for him.

Take a look at the ones I recced to Yasmin and tell me if you don't have any of them so I can send them to you. Seriously, you need all of them.

Ahem. Possibly I already have. And went on a wild tear to find 'Soulbreaking' which, after reading the lyrics, I had to have, and when Imesh refused to provide a single copy of it for download, I might have searched google until I came up with a site offering the mp3.

But it's so him! The others were good as well. I particulaly like the MGB songs, and "April" has been a favorite of mine for a long time. And it's funny- I adore A Perfect Circle, and have both their CDs (and am counting down the days until the next one comes on on Tuesday), but hadn't thought of them for Hisoka. You're right, though, it works.

Bwahahaha! You should have just given me a poke and I would have sent it to you! But yes, I first heard the song in a Lex fanvid, and while it does suit the young Mr. Luthor, I found it worked all the better for Hisoka when I got into YnM.

A Perfect Circle and Tool are two of my favorite bands, so I tend to use them for a lot of my writing. *G* Let's see, what other songs to I have on my Hisoka playlist... Ah, Kate Bush's "Love and Anger," another multi-purpose song that's a bit more hopeful. Melissa Etheridge's "The Different," also snagged from a Smallville fanvid, Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" ('shippy), Milla Jovovich's "Gentleman Who Fell" (also 'shippy), Miranda Sex Garden's "A Fairy Tale About Slavery" (because I am twisted and sicksicksick), Natalie Merchant's "My Skin" (from an HP vid and I've noticed a lot of my songs that work for Harry Potter also work for Hisoka, funny, that), Poe's "Wild" and "Haunted," Recoil's "Want," Delerium's "Silence," Stabbing Westward's "What Do I Have To Do," Sting's "Inside," The Cure's "Burn," REM's "Everybody Hurts" (also appropriate for Tsuzuki, come to that), Vast's "Touched" and "Pretty When You Cry," Vienna Teng's "Gravity" and "Feather Moon," and...that's it at the moment. I'm still adding to it, but that should start you.

I did, in fact! Considering I have no graphics skills to speak of, I'm very flattered you like it. *G*

Also? Your icon rocks.
