I like that. I like the way it flows- there's not too many words for the image, which is something that occasionally bugs me when I reread fics. There's a place to poaint with words, to use layers and layers and describe every detail of an image, and there's a place to use just a few words, to let it be clean and sleek, simple as cut. And I think I got that here.

Also, in rereading Summer's Day, my Tsuzuki seems to be incredible more timid than the average reading of his character. And while that doesn't bother me, I wonder if I couldn't have set it up better, spent more time on his characterization. Did that bother anyone else? Is this me being overly self-critical, or did he seem unbelievable to you, too different? But I do think this paragraph got it, got him the way I was trying to show him.

Overall, though, that was a fun meme. I had to go back and reread all my fics to pic a moment, because once I write a fic I pretty much block all memory of it from my brain. And in between all the 'Damnit, why did I write that?' or 'If only I could rephrase that, it would sound so much better another way' and other similar thoughts, there were several 'I wrote that? Dude." Which makes it all worthwhile, of course.

Okaaaaay, I'm gonna sound like a real moron now, but what exactly is ClubSoka? I've kept seeing it mentioned in your journal, but must've missed the details...

Ah, no, no, it's quite alright. I've been talking about it since early May and have long since stopped explaining every time I mention it; I just assumed people knew what I was talking about.

If you read 'Five Things That Never Happened to Hisoka', which was a fic I wrote back in the spring- you'll remember it, if not, I'll just explain it. That fic has an AU vignette about a Hisoka who never had empathy, who never met Muraki, was never cursed or raped, never died. He's 16 now, and is starting fall under his family's curse. Being the angsty teen he is, he decides if he has to die he may as well die young, and throws himself into the local club scene, into dancing and drugs, alcohol, random, dangerous sex, into anything that lets him forget who he is, that lets him escape for just a few seconds. He runs into Tsuzuki- who is also mortal in this AU- and then have lonely, stranger sex.

Trust me, it takes longer to explain than it does to read the vignette. It's less than a page long. Anyway, I liked the idea and character so much that I've been writing a sequel, a much, much longer fic, one longer than anything I've written before. It'll probably be novella length by the time I finish it. That's what the wordcount comes from, it's my daily count of how much I have done.

'ClubSoka' just comes from me getting tired of saying 'The AU Hisoka who's mortal and goes to the club all the time'. It's nice to have a shorter nickname, as often as I mention him. It's probably amusing, though, as I have fannish friends in real life who've listened to me talking about him, and I'll occasionally be at a club myself and shout out something like, "Listen! This is a total ClubSoka song!'

And that is the probably way longer-than-you-expected answer.
