brigdhWheeeeeeeee, I finally have time to sit down and catch up on everything! I'm a-sending out emails, and posting here, and trying to remember whose LJ I wanted to go and comment in, and quite probably getting around to writing later. Yes, life is good. At least until tomorrow, when'll I have to start writing another paper.
Hmmm, I was going to post some more doodles of ClubHisoka, but for some reason the files of the scan has been corrupted. I'll have to retry that another day. So instead, I'm going to post a mixtape I made for him. Because it's my LJ and I can if I want to.
Okay, first off, CDs are really annoying. I've been spoiled by Winamp, gotten used to my twenty-plus hours playlists. And a CD? Holds, if you're lucky, an hour and a half. I fit nineteen songs on to this one. Nineteen! What is that? That's no where near enough. I had to cut out a ton that were really good. Anyway, these are the ones that made the cut:
1. Yami no Matsuei - Hisoka - Norowareta Tsukiyo no Kioku Because it's Hisoka's mixtape, you've got to have his song.
2. Rammstein - Ich Will I dunno what this song is actually about, or what the lyrics mean, but it reminds me of something that would get played in Hisoka's club.
3. Hole - Dying "I'm dying, I'm dying, please / I want to, I need to be / Under your skin" Plus: "Eyes like cyanide". I love that image. Does anybody know what color cyanide actually is? It'd be neat if it was green.
4. Goo Goo Dolls - Dizzy "You're angry when you're beautiful" <- That is like, the most perfect ClubHisoka line ever. And "You're cynical and beautiful / You always make a scene / You're monochrome delirious / You're nothing that you seem" Great song.
5. Better than Ezra - Teenager "And if it feels good, do it / And if it tastes fine, drink"
6. Hole - Teenager Whore "I said, 'I feel so all alone and I / I wish I could die'"
7. Nine Inch Nails - The Only Time "I'm drunk / And right now, I'm so in love with you / And I don't want to think too much about what we / should or shouldn't do / Lay my hands on heaven and the sun and the moon and the stars / While the devil wants to fuck me in the back of his car"
8. Hole - Reasons to be Beautiful "Oh, you were born so pretty / Oh, summerbabe, we'll never know / And fading like a rose / Give me a reason to be beautiful"
9. Nirvana - Smells like Teen Spirit Duh. It's the anthem of angry teenagers everywhere. "I feel stupid and contagious / Here we are now, entertain us"
10. Goo Goo Dolls - Big Machine "I'm in love but you don't care / Turn your anger into lust" and "Sex and love and loneliness / Take what's yours and leave the rest" and "Swallow all your bitter pills / That's what makes you beautiful / You're all a lie"
11. Joydrop - If I Forget "If I forget your name, forgive me / But they all sound the same / DJ spins and they all jump in / But they can't seem to make up their minds"
12. Third Eye Blind - Darkness "I want someone to know me / Maybe tell me who I am / 'Cause I've faced down my demons / And cried out to a god / A god I've never seen"
13. Hole - Violet "I told you from the start / Just how this would end / When I get what I want / Well, I never want it again" and "And the sky was all violet / I want it again, but violet, more violet" Yes, I will take any mention of a purple color in a song as a reference to Tsuzuki, thankyou.
14. Cibo Matto - Sugar Water Okay, just ignore the lyrics to this one. They make no sense, trust me. But the beat, god, the beat. This song is the sex.
15. Hole - Malibu "How'd you get so burnt / When you're barely on fire / Cry to the angels"
16. Imogene Heap - Come Here, Boy "Why are you taking so long / You need to come and find me, honey" and "Oh, and I'm craving, I'm howling, I'm begging and pleading / Be mine tonight, yeah" Okay, this is a bit of a stretch to actually apply to ClubHisoka. But it's really sexy, and hey, he's all about the sex.
17. Garbage - Milk (Massive Attack Remix) "I am lost / So I am cruel" Meh, one of those songs where you just have to hear it, the lyrics don't make sense by themselves.
18. Goo Goo Dolls - Iris Yeah, yeah, I know. It's the most cliched love song ever, and the one every single teenybopper newbie uses for her songfic, no matter what the couple is. But it works for my couple, damnit! I mean: "You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be / And I don't want to go home right now" Get it? Get it!? Cuz they're not Shinigami, so they're not in heaven! And: "You can't fight the tears that ain't coming / Or the moment of truth in your lies / When everything feels like the movies / Yeah, you bleed just to know you're alive" Tell me that's not perfect.
19. Poe - Fly Away Sad slow song for the end. "It makes sense that it should hurt in this way / That my heart should break / And my hands should shake / As if to say / Sure it don't matter, except in the most important way"
Ta-da. That's it. But feel free to suggest more, I'm always looking for good songs.

Evanescence - Fallen This is a CD, and the dark sad lyrics of every song fit Hisoka and/or Tsuzuki. "without the mask where will you hide / can't find yourself lost in your lie"

Garmarna - Varulven (Werewolf) Yay Swedish music! It's a song about a girl trying to convince a wolf not to eat her by offering him gifts... he refuses them and eats her, much to her lover's dismay. Call it symbollic, it works!.... And even if it doesn't fit perfectally, the song is still good.
....I think that's more than enough rambling for now.

And then a friend of mine who does weekly music pimps went off on a Smallville kick this week and recced My Ritual, by Folk Implosion, for Club!Lex and I blinked at the snip of the lyrics she mentioned and downloaded immediately, because the bit she quoted was 'Don't touch me, 'cause I've had to much to feel tonight'. And I'm really going to have to post some proper soundtracks, even if I don't have a fic yet that has a specific soundtrack that's particularly big or not hugely full of spoilers for the story.

I don't need to mention that soundtracking for that scenario only makes me want to see a sequel more, do I?
Hee, well, one's being written. Although it has to come after school work and Summer's Day's sequel. But, you know, eventually. I'm never going to have a life outside of Yami again, am I? ;)
