1. What is your favorite type of literature to read (magazine, newspaper, novels, nonfiction, poetry, etc.)?
Definitely novels, fantasy to narrow it down further.
2. What is your favorite novel?
Royal Assassin, by Robin Hobb. *Sigh* The fool, the Fitz, political intrigue, and the best non-graphic sex scenes ever. Of course, I say this today. By tomorrow I'll probably change my mind.
3. Do you have a favorite poem? (Share it!)
By e. e. cummings. I'm not sure what the name is, probably either the first line or some random number.
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)
4. What is one thing you've always wanted to read, or wish you had more time to read?
Les Miserables. God. I've tried to read that book so many times, but I always get half way through and then am distracted by something else. Also Dune.
5. What are you currently reading?
Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Carey. Wheee, masochistic whores!

Date: 2003-03-02 04:42 pm (UTC)::bounces excitedly:: I sang that one once! A setting of that poem, that is, for my voice jury (think final exams for voice students). It was the most gorgeous melody... I'd forgotten it until now. ::hums happily to herself::

Date: 2003-03-04 01:31 pm (UTC)1) I'm out of practice, having not had private lessons in, oh, two years. *g*
2) I was singing in a small apartment with nearby neighbors, so I couldn't get as loud as I wanted. Which is why I sound like a baby bird on the high notes. *g*
3) The high notes? There's a lot of them-- I was singing the first-soprano version. You, of course, will probably not want to sing it that high. But it should at least give you a good idea of the melody.

Date: 2003-03-04 09:58 pm (UTC)You have a very nice singing voice. I'm jealous. But then, I'm jealous of anyone who has any talent at all at singing, so that doesn't really put you in a special category.
