The Musketeers
Knight Takes Queen: Considering the context, this is the cheesiest title imaginable.
This opening scene, with the Queen swimming, seriously like something out of Mists of Avalon. Is there a Mists of Avalon movie?
This episode feels very Wild West for some reason. I think it's all the stand-offs and cynical ex-soldiers and sieges in weird old buildings.
Oh, man, it's a long-lost sister plot! I did not see that coming. Oh, nope, not a sister – long-lost fiancee instead. Even better!
OMG they threw a beehive at the bad guys! That's kind of a great idea, really.
Man, the Musketeers have way too many dramatic backstories. Each one has, like, five long-lost True Loves.
Aramis, are you really having sex with the married Queen in a convent? This is inappropriate behavior on so many levels.
Awww, Louis really loves his queen. I am oddly into this show's Louis.
Musketeers Don't Die Easily: I like that "Athos has taken a woman hostage" just seems to be a normal thing to everyone.
d'Artagnan looks quite healthy for having been SHOT IN THE RIBS WTF.
It's a "friends pretending to fight" plot! I love this trope.
OH MY GOD HE ACTUALLY DID THE GLOVE-SLAP-TO-THE-FACE THING TO CHALLENGE ATHOS TO A DUEL! I've never seen that done in sincerity, only as a parody.
Awwwwww, Porthos cries at the fake funeral!
They got in their catchphrase: "One for all and all for one". I had thought they weren't going to use it.
Is "Musketeers don't die easily" supposed to be a saying? That's the second time someone's repeated it in this episode, but I've never heard it before.
Man, for all the buildup, this Saracen guy sure died easily.
Did Constance's husband jump out of window? This is the fakest-sounding suicide attempt ever.
SO MUCH MELODRAMA. I suppose that's the best way to end a season, though! I will miss Capaldi; he was an awesome Cardinal.
I happen to have six months of free Netflix, so I feel like I should start watching some new show on there. Except I don't know what I'm really in the mood for. Mostly I want Sleepy Hollow to start again, but that won't come until the end of the month, alas.

Porthos crying at the fake funeral may be the pinnacle of the entire season for me. It's so stuffed full of tropey feels. XD
I also spent the whole of ep 10 going but who is that guy??? at Saracen, because he had a face that I just KNEW should have been a good guy instead -- I finally worked out that it was because he was Cadfael's first and best Hugh Beringar, years and years ago.

Cool! I've never seen Cadfael, but I did really like that actor. I'd totally watch him in other things.
