and now back to the beginning

I have finally finished the first draft of my polybigbang story! I have no idea why this has been so difficult and endless to write; it didn't seem like such a challenging idea! (Honestly, I suspect it's the effect of the season: my SAD revving up and the antidepressants not quite kicked in.)

BUT. It's okay. Because now I have a draft at least! And it's 13.7k words, by far the longest thing I've ever written. Nearly twice as long as the next longest story, in fact. Of course, it's not yet good, but you know. That's the next step.

Congratulations! I'm awed, especially since it's such a word count jump from your next longest draft. (Every few months I have the itch to sign up for some big bang or another, then I remember that the not-even-6k fic was like transplanting a good corner of hell into my brain and schedule, and again shy away from the thought.)

Thank you! At least this big bang's wordcount requirement was only 10k, which is pretty small for a big bang. I also suspect that, unlike nearly everything else I've ever written, editing may make this story shorter rather than longer. There are a lot of passages where I felt "this is dumb and repetitive and pointless, but whatever, only moving forward", so a lot of that will need to be cut.
