I normally quite like reading about other people's fandom, even when I know nothing about the canon. But all the talk about Hannibal (the TV show about the serial killer) is giving me cognitive dissonance regarding Hannibal (the character in the Benjamin January novels).

"Hannibal is completely evil."
No, he's a nice guy! He doesn't always do as much as he could, but evil- wait, never mind, I just figured out what you're talking about.

"Hannibal is such a perfect portrayal of a pretentious foodie."
Really? But he doesn't even seem to eat that much, what makes you say that- oh, right, right, figured it out.

"I like imaging Hannibal as Shaw's psychologist."
WHAT. Hannibal should be NO ONE's Psychologist, much less Shaw's, how would that even work- oh. Right.

Endlessly!

hahaha I've had a bit of the reverse reading your Ben January posts, which is entertaining.

Oh my godddd, yes, I have this problem. Like, I'd had to stop reading cleolinda's recaps mostly because of this.

I suppose at least I'm not the only confused one!

Hahaha. I'm okay with it when I'm reading a long post, or a conversation, because then I can just think "okay, so now we're talking about the cannibal one". I just have this problem when I come on a new post, or a comment that changes the topic to Hannibal (the TV show) and starts talking without clearly stating the subject under discussion. And then I literally have to stare at the screen for a second or two before things start to make sense.
