More College Stuff
Aug. 25th, 2002 10:32 pmAs I talk to my roommate more and more, I'm kind of getting worried.
I know, I know- I've worried about so many things this summer that the term is kind of becoming pointless. But still. I can't IM her because she doesn't have *any* IMs on her computer, and no phone, because "Hello, long distance bills". So we're stuck with email. I based my initial reaction to her on the fact that we like a lot of the same things- movies, TV shows, food, etc. But as I talk to her more and more, she seems kind of... weird.
I think maybe I'm exaggerating. It's not so much *what* she says as *how* she says it. She's got a strange way of speaking (typing, whatever). Everything sounds so... formal, is the only way I can think to put it. She takes everything seriously, even when I'm just telling a funny story. The problem might just be that she's not used to writing emails. I mean, if she's never bothered to download any IM at all, maybe she just hasn't been on the internet that long. On the other hand, maybe she really does talk like she writes. In which case, she's a very weird person.
I wish that students met their roommates before the first day. But, unless one of us decides to fly cross-country, that ain't happening.
Oh, well. Like I said before, I think maybe I'm worrying too much. And less than a month now till I meet her (30 days) so I won't have to worry for too long.
