1. The World's 10 Oldest Still-Inhabited Cities. I don't think this article is all that accurate. I don't think they're inaccurate in anything they say, but I'm pretty sure that the only one on this list that might actually be one of the top 10 oldest cities in the world is Jericho. But it's interesting, and has pretty photos.

2. Julie & Julia is TOTALLY cute.

3. [livejournal.com profile] verb_noire is collecting story submissions for YA non-Eurocentric retellings of folktales. This is gonna be so cool! I'm totally buying this book as soon as it comes out.

4. Hey, remember that Top 100 Beach Reads thing? Well, here's the books that won.

5. Why you should boycott Whole Foods, if you can.

6. Noisy Alphabet

7. Namaah's Kiss has lesbian sex scenes! Like, graphic ones. I am pleased. Also, going directly from Carey's first book to this newest one really shows off the development in her writing style. She's much better at not rushing through Extremely! Plotty! Events! And everything! Happens! So fast! anymore, although I do kinda have a fondness for the early 'I am awesome and my country is awesome and we are so much cooler than you' over-the-topness of the narrative voice.

the list focused on Europe, didnt it
as far as i can remember, a lot of old cities - first rose along great rivers - the nile, the yangtzwe (yellow river), the ganges

then that would include cities in egypt, china, and india - but i dont remember the cities...
