Tonight, I am writing* for a few hours while I wait for it to get late enough to go out.

Leave me interesting comments? I just can't think of any meme going around currently which I could use to attract attention somewhat more subtly. Oh, yes, there was that one quiz... I am apparently a Badass Uke. Discuss.

*Not the story I finished a draft of last week. A new one I had an idea for and started writing because it seemed so short that I thought I might finish in a few hours. After spending all last night poking at it and rearranging things and sighing over sentence construction, I finally gave in and accepted that, just possibly, the sections might need to be longer than drabbles.

How about "Your entry is logged at 10.16pm and it's not late enough to go out yet???"

*laughs* Uh, nope. It's not worth it to arrive at a club before midnight, you'll just stand around waiting and staring at an empty dance floor until the crowds arrive anyway.

I suppose they're like that here too. It's some kind of entry test: "you have to be willing to completely fuck up your sleep pattern and thus the rest of your life to be worthy of our special club".

Hee. It wastes the whole next day, too: if I don't go to bed until 5 or 6 in the morning, there's no way I'm getting up until the afternoon's almost over.

What are you writing? What fandom, I mean. SP? I gather from MC's recent entries that you were the one who got her into it, and seeing it discussed so often on her journal made me go out and read the first book, get addicted to Richard and Alec, and read them all in a space of about four days. So now I have them in my head, doing naughty things and encouraging me to write about/draw them.

Thank you. ^_^

It is Swordspoint! I am so glad to hear that yet another person has been converted; it's my goal to attempt to create some sort of fandom for the books. I did encourage MC to read them, and now I encourage you, saying: write! draw! many and various naughty things! Because I want new things to read and look at it.

I am apparently a Badass Uke. Discuss.

I've been taking that in character for various things that I'm writing, but I'm not sure if that's entertaining to anyone but me. Oh, the Tam Lin people are fucked up...

Hahahahaha!

Oh, I take quizes in character sometimes, but I hadn't thought to do so for this one. What'd Tam Lin get? And his lover (whose name I'm sure is not Janet, but I don't know what it is)?

Because, really, I have characters who are actually gay men...

Tam Lin (also called Thomas) had to take the test twice, once for his fucked up relationship with the Fairie Queen (who is not a gay man, but her human form is more habit than anything else) and once for his lover. Who is named Jonathan, as being pretty close in meaning to Janet.

Jonathan got Romantic Seme. To which I said, "what?!?!" as he does not top once during the entire book. But if you ignore the actual use of seme and uke in this context, the rest of the description, which involves flowers and protecting your lover, was pretty right on.

When relating to Jonathan, Tam Lin got BadAss Uke. Which can kick the Romantic Seme's ass. So, so true. So Jonathan's Romantic Seme kind of works in that sense too, because at first Jonathan doesn't really know what to do with Thomas, who was really damn aggressive about seducing him.

When relating to the Fairie Queen, Tam Lin got Dramatic Uke. I didn't save the description but I think it went "Your life is full of torment! Woe! But you love it." This is supposed to go with the Sadistic Seme, because they like to hurt you.

The Fairie Queen, being a psychotic bitch, did in fact get Sadistic Seme. And it makes sense that Tam Lin would be a Dramatic Uke to her Sadistic Seme because she spent a long, long time training him to be her boy-toy.

The narrator (Puck) also got Dramatic Uke. Total drama queen. His favorite accessory is actually the scars of his tortured existence, and the scars cover his body in a nice spiderweb-like pattern. When he said this, he was being flip. But it was also true. (And he sleeps with the Fairie Queen when she wants him to, so that also works.)

I also have a flamingly gay actor from something else, who got the Flaming Uke. Which he found hilarious because 1) Flaming, very yes, 2) Uke, as fun as bottoming is, he prefers topping, and 3) this would make his boyfriend a Chibi Seme. This is very wrong, and my flamingly gay actor has been laughing his ass off about this ever since I had him take the test. (His boyfriend doesn't live in my head, and the friend of mine who was writing him hasn't taken it for him yet.)

Ha! Those are totally entertaining answers. I like hearing about your Tam Lin characters; they seem so interesting.

Oh good.

Jonathan has a stick up his ass and reminds me of Tatsumi -- I started writing fic at about the same time I started the first draft of Tam Lin, and this is probably why Tatsumi took in my head as much as he did.

Heh, really? I didn't picture Janet as that type of character. Though, on the other hand, that probably makes perfect sense for a contrast for the craziness of all the Fairy Court.

I always do think it's neat when original characters match up in some ways to characters in other sources; it amuses me when it happens to me.

Well, the having the stick of formality and denial of desires more than anything else, but a bit, yes.

I think it was more because he can't get pregnant, so his parents disapprove of being gay instead. And if they're finding out that he's gay instead of being pregnant, then he can't be the sort of person who would be comfortable being out. But being a contrast with the fairie court works too -- the options for sexual orientation there seem to be "yes" and "no".

Oh, that makes perfect sense. I like that as a analouge for pregnancy.

Madrigal

More transparent
Than this water dropping
Through the vine's twined fingers
My thought stretches a bridge
From yourself to yourself
                                 Look at you
Truer than the body you inhabit
Fixed at the center of my mind

You were born to live on an island

Badass uke? Man, everyone has a cooler result than me. I'm a clueless uke apparently.

I think all the results are pretty funny. And generally horribly inaccurate, of course, or at least wildly overstated.

Dude. I have no idea! That really is a bizarre interpersonal problem. Um. Maybe you could buy her some nice soap or perfume or something, and she'd get the hint?

I took the quiz, and got Don't Fuck With Me Seme. ... So that means if I were in a yaoi manga, I'd want to dropkick myself before the non-con stuff starts. I also think I got the result I did, not because I'm into non-con BDSM (going by the questions and what I've heard about yaoi), but just because I really like being single.

I got the Don't Fuck With Me Seme too -- and furthermore, it came up again even when I changed every answer I could change without being utterly dishonest.

Which leads me to believe that it's replying to impertinent questions with a Death Glare that does it. Who knew that a certain kind of old-fashioned upbringing would have such kinky connotations?

Date: 2007-02-05 12:29 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] parallactic.livejournal.com
Yeah, I think the death glare option might have been what did it. I took it again, and got Clueless Uke. I'm not sure how this quiz works.

From: [identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com
*laughs* I do wonder how the results come out of the questions.

I also wonder what the hell archetype the 'Badass Uke' is supposed to be, because I can't recall any character that would fit. Though I don't have much experience with yaoi, or not least not genuine yaoi as opposed to the more shounen-ai, plot-not-porn sort of stuff.

Maybe there's a yaoi trope we don't know about where the Badass Uke, going from the title, kicks ass and likes to bottom.

I would like to see that. Mix up those pesky yaoi stereotypes.
