Bird!

Check it out! I can sit in my window; it's very awesome. I'm terrible at trying to remember to take photos every day, so this is what you get when I realize it's 2am and I haven't taken one yet.

My camera refuses to take non-blurry photos when it's dark. But I like the reflection of the Christmas tree on the wet ground.

I'd stopped to take a photo of the Empire State Building, but the clouds were so low last night that you couldn't actually see it. So instead you get this (shorter) shiny building reflecting off those clouds.

Lovely pictures, sweetie. I've yet to see New York, so thank you for giving me a sort of preview.

And who's the hottie in #5? *smooches*

It's a gorgeous city. I love the juxtaposition of the modern buildings- all smooth, reflective glass and metal- and the intricate stone buildings from other centuries.

Hee. #^^#

Nifty! I love seeing how writers see the world. It's a different take on you. You also are cute, but I think I'd told you that. :D

I was totally wondering about that, about how much of my emotional impressions of the city come through in the photos I take.

Though I'm probably a bit influenced by having just read Perdido Street Station, in which cities symbolize everything terrible ever, whereas it's just the opposite in my standard mental equation. I walk around going, Buildings: pretty! Grafitti: pretty! Clouds: pretty! Crowded streets: pretty!

I don't think I could stand that book. And I have a few people doing this, so it's so fun to contrast.

Other than that (which I rationalized away as, 'Well, maybe the POV characters just really don't like cities'), it was actually pretty good. But it did bother me, particularly in the beginning before the plot took off.

Hee. It's not really a window seat; it's an old building, so the outside walls are really thick, and the windowsill has to be wide to reach through it. I don't think a cushion would fit. Really, I only barely manage to squish on.

Yay! I was hoping you'd post more. I really like the square one with the building corner -- very atmospheric.

Window seat! OTOH, I get all shivery and miserable even thinking about using one in winter, especially if it really is press-up-against-the-glass narrow.

Thank you! I was trying to get a photo of this vivid blue sky through the arches, but after I wandered around to find the right angle, clouds had come in. But I like it anyway.

The room's radiator is immediately underneath the window, so sitting on the sill is putting yourself right in the center of the rising heat. It's excellent.

*laughs* Yep, most of these are in places you would have walked through.
