Oh my god, someone has invited their grandparents to this coffeeshop, and they are sitting a foot away from me having a family reunion while I write gay porn. I'd stop, but I'm almost done and I'm at that point where I'm afraid if I stop, I'll lose all my train of thought.

This is so bizarre.

Ha! I think some people yesterday were reading over my shoulder. At least, at one point I heard an aburpt silence behind me and looked up to find them glaring at me, and I can't imagine what else I could have done.

A friend of mine was reading GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka) on the subway. If you're not familiar with it, (and even if you are) it has lots of shots of teenaged girls in their underwear and such things. And is somehow very good. But anyway. My friend was reading along in a story arc dealing with bullies, where the tormented gets back at the tormentors by doing what they did to him. She turns the page and finds a picture of three girls with their skirts pushed up around their waists and stuff written on their butts. My friend hears a gasp. She turns around.

Sitting next to her is a nun.

Ha! I have read the first volume of GTO, so I know exactly the sort of scene you're describing. Reading Get Backers in public always made me nervous that I'd end up in exactly that sort of situation.

I worry about this sort of thing whenever it take my computer to work because I'm in the middle of a story and it's just screaming at me to get written. I work in a salon and the other gals there have no problem with popping their heads in my room to ask a question or a client popping in to say hi. Thankfully, the computer is not at an angle that they could see what I'm writing and the few times I've been asked what I was working on, a vague 'bookkeeping' answer seems to satify them.

Hee. I'm not too worried about it- I mean, it's pretty sure it's not actually against any rules to be doing it in public, considering that it's so hard to accidently read typing on someone's else screen, or at least it is the way I have my computer set- but it's still vaguely embarrassing. It's not exactly comfortable, if you know what I mean.
