Stealing a meme from Dorian:

If you were going to cast an actress to play me, who would you choose? AKA, What celebrity do you think I might look like?

I suppose I might get warped results because I actually have posted a few photographs of myself, but this is such an interesting meme that I am tempted nonetheless. I like it particularly because it doesn't work for me personally; I don't think of people in visual terms at all, even the ones I know in real life and see every day. I seem to have a much harder time learning to recognize anyone than normal people do, and it's not unusual for me to not be able to remember simple details like hair color even after knowing someone for months. Which, heh, leads to me forever getting into conversations like, "I cut my hair! Why haven't you said anything?" "I didn't notice." "It used to be past my waist!" "...Really?"

I have seen your pics! Still, I think Maggie Gyllenhaal with a hatchet (http://www.artistsnetwork.org/artists/maggiegyllenhaal/maggie.jpg) can be said to resemble you somewhat.

Damn, you're good at this.

I, ever hampered by my lack of knowledge of actresses or celebrities, was going to say Kate Winslet. Which I don't think is a bad analogy, but I'm not sure I don't like yours better.

Isn't she?

Though I like your suggestion, too.

Media junkie+strongly visual aesthete+magpie mind=amazing memory for certain celebrity faces. Also, I tend to have kickass Google Image Fu.

All true, but you bring something more to it than an amazing mental catalogue of celebrity faces. (Not that the catalogue isn't impressive by itself.) But the analogical matching is an awesome thing to behold.

Generally speaking, I'm not sure how useful this meme is; clearly most of us are struggling with it. But you? I want to know your answers for everybody I've ever encountered on lj. Including you. And me.

Well, thanks! *G* I think a lot of it might have to do with how both visual artistic talent and literary talent (and musical talent) run in my family, so there's a tendency to expose the next generation to all three as much as possible and see what takes. So while I've always been inclined toward writing, I also do a lot of visualization, and will frequently make note of faces the remind me of characters. This meme is essentially asking me to "cast" you all based on our interactions, and in that way it's like visualizing characters.

I have a very hard time doing it for myself, because my knowledge of how I really look interferes with the "impressionism" at work. However, you have been the ultra-competent Diana Rigg as Mrs. Emma Peel (http://www.serv.net/~bcollins/leather.jpg) from our first discussion.

You rule this meme even more than you know.

I have that leather catsuit. Well, almost that leather catsuit: as close as I was likely to come to it while shopping in places that carried '80s Azzadine Alaia, as opposed to, ahem, specialty shops. I used to wear it from time to time when I was with the giant international law firm, and needed to frighten investment bankers.

Really. You're scary good at this.

::laughs::

Somehow, this does not surprise me. *G*

More people need to do this meme, because I really enjoy considering how I "view" them.

Hee. I approve of armed people being used to describe me.

Dude, without the weaponry, she's cute, but she doesn't quite convey the you-ness.

I don't know, someone occasionally bubbly but also believable in serious moments like Sandra Bullock. I don't like her personally but she might make an all right you.

Oh, man, I missed the whole point of the question. LOL XD

As far as celebrity lookalikes go, I don't know, maybe Jorja Fox *points to icon* if she had curly hair?

Oh, that works. What's she on, CSI?

Yep! You know those crime shows and their hot wimmin.

As long as it's not a dead body show. *grins*

Hahaha, the dead bodies on CSI are fake (though they're grosser than real dead bodies sometimes).

Oh man I got to see the dead body on Law & Order breathing the other day XD And the guy was, like, climbing all over her, sniffing her hands and stuff, and I was thinking, "Doesn't it defeat the purpose of wearing latex gloves when you're going to be rubbing your face and arms all over her anyway?"

Ewww, please do not molest the dead bodies kthnx.

See, I knew there was a reason why I didn't like Law & Order.

In that guy's defense, I think he's supposed to be kind of a weirdo.

It was still messed up, tho.

Rana totally pwns this meme. But, in the interest of amusing you, I'll try. Karen Allen maybe?

Oh, I like that. She was in Indiana Jones!

I would think Emma Thompson, actually. Although Rana won, clearly.

Hee, at first I thought that was the girl who plays Hermione. Clearly I know no popular actresses.

But thank you, I like this suggestion too.
