And, in celebration of me actually writing something:

Top Ten Ways to Tell You're Reading a Story by Brigdh

1. The title comes from some obscure quote that no one's ever heard of and only makes sense to me.

2. The weather will be described in exact, loving detail. Usually it will be either incredibly hot or incredibly cold, because extremes are fun.

3. Wow, I didn't know you could fit that many adjectives in a sentence!

4. Someone will get some.

5. If there is dialouge, no one will actually say what they mean. Instead everyone talks around each other and makes vague allusions to the problem.

6. The POV character will feel the need to comment on other characters' prettiness. Several times.

7. It has a happy ending, if by happy you mean, "tenuous, complicated, and bittersweet".

8. There's no plot.

9. I talk about it for a geological age before it's finished.

10. Everyone is bi, and yet no one ever notices, comments on, or cares about sexuality.

Yeah, neither can I. Which means I just play around with a quote website or one of my books of poetry or song lyrics until I stumble over something that vaguely relates to the topic of the story, and voila! title. Even if no one else gets it, at least I don't have to think about the thing anymore.

Yes Saiyuki! Sanzo is my favorite character because I really have a thing for those beautiful angry boys with tortured pasts. *cough*Hisoka*cough* I love all the characters, but Sanzo/Goku is my sparklyshining OPT.

I expect anything you write for Saiyuki with any pairing will be brilliant and I look forward to it.

So, what you're saying is I ramble endlessly about irrelevant, strange things, avoiding talking about actual problems or doing work, have no purpose, and am obsessed with sex? ;)

P.S. Not tonight, as I'm attempting again to go get groceries. I'm down to eating fried beans for breakfast this morning. The problem last night turned out to be that my mom got her license plates stolen (I know, WTF! Who steals license plates?). We could do tomorrow, if you're free? I don't have Fusion till 8, and it's just a movie, so I can show up at the last minute.

Actually I mean that you quote often obsure books, discuss the weather frequently (generally complaining about how damn cold it is), talk in detail about how pretty your characters are and rarely comment on or care about others' sexuality. :P

P.S. Yes, tonight is bad. OMG your poor mom!! I hope everything worked out for her. And eep, buy some friggin' food, woman! Tomorrow works great for me. I can pick you up after 5. You cool with hanging out? I am low on the fundage and would like to hang out in my house, cook or something perhaps?

Also, I forgot to mention how much I love that you used Rumi for your title. I was looking at him for Eliza's theme and titles, but then she remembered "Yes I Am" was on the 583 mix I made and decided to go with that.

I loved the poem that mistressrenet used for your yami_valentine story last year so much that I went out and bought the biggest book of Rumi's poetry I could find, and it was very worth it. I find him incredibly inspirational. Even when I don't quote it directly, I've got a couple lines that I love to read to myself just to put me in the mood for writing.

And oh, is that what her title's from? I knew it sounded familiar.

Rumi is just fantastic, especially when you're going for sensual and yet somehow cerebral. I also like to use e. e. cummings a lot, and Rilke and Neruda. I also use Sandburg, but usually that's when I'm specifically going for ocean-themed. *G*

I have to bug Rune to loan me the CD I made her of the mix so I can upload it for you again. When the hard drive crashed, it took the playlist with it. Or, wait, it's in my LJ somewhere, so I'll find it and upload it for you and drop you a line.

Oh, but I always have such fun with your titles. Thy Faithfulness in Destruction and Those That Will Not Break are two of my favorite ever. I love how you do 5 & 7. And I didn't really appreciate how great so much of Anime is for 10 until I tried writing shows where some of the guys might actually be, you know, either straight or gay in some sort of meaningful way. Unlike Yami or Saiyuki, say.

Hee. The quote that 'Those That Will Not Break' is from is one of my favorite things ever, but I'm never sure how recognizable it is out of context. It's from that Hemmingway quote about "the world kills the very good and the very brave and the gentle".

10 really has to do with my boredom over the whole concept. There are so many more interesting things to angst about than whether who you like to sleep with changes who you are as a person! But you're right, there's some characters who you do have to deal with the issue with one way or the other.

Hee... yeah, I love that Hemingway quote -- I'm always putting "the world breaks everyone" on Tsuzuki icons and "stronger at the broken places" on Hisoka ones -- it's a borderline obsession. Half the fun is seeing if I can place the quote without having to look it up ^^

And if there's a plot-line I find more tedious than OMG!does this make me gay!?! I'm not sure I know what it is.
