I got my hair cut today. I hadn't had it cut in over a year- not that it matters, since I have the kind of thick, curly, wild hair that looks as styled after a year as it does five minutes after being cut- which meant that it went from being below my shoulder blades to above my chin. I keep trying to reach back and grab a handful to pull over my shoulder, but there's no longer any hair there. It's a terribly weird feeling.

This is my to-do list for the next fourteen days:
Take the GRE.
You know, study for the GRE. Because I haven't taken a math class in three years, and that could be a problem.
Write all those drabble challenges I asked for.
Write my [livejournal.com profile] yaoi_challenge story, for the love of all that is good and holy.
Get on a plane to California and disappear for the next six weeks.

So, as you might know- or might not, since I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned in on this lj, mainly because anime and gay porn are so much more interesting- I'm studying archeology. Which involves going on digs. Occasionally digs in the middle of deserts without stores or roads or plumbing or cell-phone service or anything to live in other than tents or, worst of all, internet access.

Here's the website, if anyone is interested. It's conveniently free of any personal information on me, and therefore I share the link with everyone. Feel free to stalk the professor; I don't know the guy and am thus unconcerned for his safety from raving interwebs psychos.

I figure a disappearance for this long merits more of a warning than my usual day-before post. This way, if anyone has vital information (long-lost twins! secret identities! nervously anticipated declarations of love! C'mon, tell me at least one of you has just been waiting for the right time to tell me that you've been having an affair with my brother), I will actually be able to respond before I leave. Things tend to work out better that way.

The biggest problem, of course, is trying to decide what books to bring. On the one hand, six weeks. On the other hand, there's only so much luggage I'll be able to bring. I'm currently debating new, extremely long books versus old books that I know I won't mind rereading several times. It's the eternal question.

Also, did you know there's a livejournal song? With lyrics, even.
