True story, really.
Apr. 27th, 2005 11:04 pmOur GLBT student group, Fusion, did a "What is Yaoi?" meeting tonight. Some people from the manga club came out to do the talk, and they had a little powerpoint presentation all set with with lots of images from various series, most of which they knew but some of which I think they'd pulled off of random websites.
One of these happened to be the picture of Tsuzuki and Hisoka lying in cherry petals. They paused on this screen coincidentally and began to go off on a tangent about how yaoi is not at all realistic, and is based on a different set of visual conventions.
"I mean, look at this guy," one of the girls said, pointing to Tsuzuki. "Does he look like a man? He's too pretty, he looks feminine. It's all about flowers and bubbles."
The other girl pointed to Hisoka and said something in a low voice. "No, no, he's fine," the first girl said. "He's masculine. It's this one, his eyes... He's just so pretty."
...I'm taking this as proof that even people who have never seen the series know Hisoka's the kickass one.
Also: Happy birthday,
