brigdh: (I am filled with love)
[personal profile] brigdh
Two people in the last week have mentioned how much they liked the Gayleen Froese song I posted a while ago, so I thought I should post some more. I feel slightly guilty about this- it's one thing to post a song or two, but it's something else entirely to post an entire album, especially when it's from such an underground artist. On the other hand, she seems to have disappeared from the internet and music scene without leaving any way to buy her CDs, so it's possible the only way left to get this music is if I post it. I can't imagine any moral high ground to keeping an artistic creation unavailable, which is my justification for doing this. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself; don't disillusion me.

I'm also including the lyrics, because I don't think they exist online, and a few years ago I sat down and wrote them all out for myself.

All the songs, in a zip file.

Stigma. This is a The Sentinel song.
If you want to talk about this,
Meet me under a pile of comic books,
Where your secret identity's intact,
And the walls are soundproof.
I don't know what you're ashamed of-
If I were you, the world would know my name.
So what if your gift
Makes you strange?
You don't understand.
At least you're gifted,
Strange is all I am.
And it would scare you to know-
I never would say-
What I'd give to steal your
Stigma away.

Pull up a seat in the sidekicks' lounge
And take it from your guide:
I've been stared at
Since I learned to speak,
And I'm still alive.
If you're scared of what people see,
I don't suggest that you be seen with me.
I promise, your
Name will be changed.
I won't show my hand.
They'll call me a liar,
And I am.
I've been
Lying for you,
Saving your face,
Keeping the world a charmless place,
Where we don't belong.

Finding. Another The Sentinel song.
(Take a deep)
(Take a deep breath)
It's your kind of mystery,
(And focus)
Why I turned my face to where you hid.
(Focus on the sound of my voice)
(My voice is all you hear)
You said I'd know where to find you and
(Take a deep breath, and focus)
(My voice is all you hear)
I did.
(My voice is all you hear)

Never was as crazy,
Not for clan or lovers,
(Focus on the sound of my voice)
As I am for you.
(Take a deep)
You said I'd know where to find you,
And I do.
(Take a deep breath)

I'll take what I have coming,
(The sound of my voice)
For every time
I asked you to keep still.
I know how to find you,
I know how to find you,
And
(Take a deep breath)
I will.

Chlorine. And one more for The Sentinel.
Something throws,
Throws you at me as a bribe
For my good behavior, as a gift
For my service to the tribe.
(My lungs ache with chlorine) (My lungs ache with chlorine)
And God help me,
(It seeps in every time)
It's what I want.
God help you,
This sacrifice-
You've burned everything but your place at my side.
(My lungs) (My lungs) (My lungs ache with chlorine)
My lungs ache with chlorine,
(It seeps in every time I breathe)
It seeps in every time I breathe.
(My lungs ache with chlorine)
My lungs ache with chlorine,
(It seeps in every time I breathe)
It seeps in every time I breathe.
(My lungs ache with chlorine it seeps in every time)
It seeps in every time (I)
I breathe (breathe)

It's elegant.
I can call you home from the dead,
And I'm bought and paid for while
You're alive.

Lamia. This song is for Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles.
Forever silent,
You and I-
I kiss away
The tears you cry.
An act of kindness,
Act of love;
All I ever
Taste is blood.

My love, I have been singing so long...
You shut your ears
To this devil's song.
It's heaven and hell
We're going through.
The only one
To damn us is you.

Ohh...
My love forgives,
If you believe
My love is
All that you need.
And forever will the night (forever will the night)
In darkness of its sight,
Forgive.
Ohh...

The confession that
You say I've heard,
The truth is finally only words.
I'm your penance,
You are mine,
That has never
Changed in time.

Ohh...
My love forgives,
If you believe
My love is
All that you need (all that you need)
And forever will the night,
In darkness of its sight, forgive.

Son of My Right Hand. Batman.
Come accept your legacy,
Come and wear your crown.
You know you're my successor from
The day I tumble down.
I think you were my talisman;
My peace has gone your way.
I know the route I'm taking could be changed
If you would stay.

Son of my right hand,
This hand I used to guide you through...
Be grateful that my left hand never found a hold on you.

Come embrace contrition now,
Come and beat the ground.
You know I'm dying gracelessly
Because you're not around.
I promised you deliverance,
I gave you love and home.
How can you abandon me to lose my soul alone?

Son of my right hand,
I swear I tried to guide you through...
But in your dreams you'll feel my left hand's fingers tracing you.

Cold Religion. Star Wars. If I remember right, this is Luke to Obi-Wan. It's one of my favorite songs on the album.
Ohh...
Ohh...
Don't tell me to take comfort-
This thing cares not for me.
Ohh...
Before he let it touch me, he would warm it in his hands.
There are things I refuse to understand.
He taught your cold religion,
With a passion.
I was raised to love and grieve.
And this small,
Sacrifice,
One servant's life;
It was everything to me.
Regardless,
I am married
To the path I have been shown.
I inherited his faith
On the day I lost
My,
My own.

Ascension. The X-Files. I think it's Mulder/Krycek, but I'm not sure.
You
Think that I'm keeping in touch with you.
You,
Being you,
Must know what it means-
That I'm one of the quirks you collect
With such passion. I
Tell myself lies but can't help but believe.
And by the way, how are your dreams?

It's
Strange how I
Wasn't aware of this. I
Guess it must have slipped my mind.
There's an
Unmarked grave where I bury what scares me and
Until we met I was
Doing just fine.

The dreams'll be over in time.

In time
The nightmares will be
A case history,
Bankrupt of meaning and
No longer mine.
Like everything else
That you find.

Bird Song. Shadowland by Peter Straub.
Send me a vision
Again.
Though I know they're not real,
Still I feel like I'm blind without them.
When I look at the shallow world,
Birds all around bring to mind,
The incision you send.

Give me a dream about lies.
I'll believe every hint
Of the worlds behind worlds you contrive.
I want none and seek all of
The holes you display in a world
Solid to my weak eyes.

Yes, this is how the dream ends,
With me off chasing shadows again.

Real Face. H. P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu stories. No, really. I didn't know there was a fandom for it either.
Ohh...
Ohh...
Some guy's
Screaming:
There are things under my bed.
(And the angels say it already, I know, I know)
How I'm gonna get well in
A sick place
I don't know.
(I know the omens already, I know)
Stop screaming, "My eyes".

(I know)
I know they're coming already, I know.
(I know)
I heard you say it already, I know
(I know)
About the old ones.
I know,
So shut up.

Mr. Skull
Says he's my secret,
But he won't say what it is.
(I think I know it already, I know)
And if I had my play-doh,
I'd put a real face
(On his)
On his bones.
What about your eyes?
(What about your eyes?)

Canon. The Nero Wolfe Mysteries.
This flesh
To keep you out,
These
Walls to keep you in;
Neither stands against you.
This one mistake,
(Keep you out, these walls)
I would not
(To keep you in)
Change.
(Neither stands against you)
You believe
(These walls would not stand)
You name your price,
(Would not, would not, would not stand)
But you have
(Nothing stands against you)
No idea.

One
(You believe)
Mistake.
(One mistake)
(I would not fall)
I would not, would not fall.
(No idea)
(One)
You believe you name the price,
But you have
(Nothing stands against you)
No idea.
You believe you name the price, but you have
(One mistake)
(Would not, would not want)
No idea.
(Me)

One,
(You would not)
(Would not, would not)
One.
(One mistake)
(One)
Ohh...
Ohh...
Believe you name your price,
(One)
You have no idea.
(Ohh...)
(You have no idea)
(Name your price)
(You have no idea)

Fetish. The Donald Strachey Mysteries. Which I've never heard of, but this song kinda makes me want to search them out.
In a dark room,
On our most ungodly nights,
Your skin is the
Kind of white
That glows.

Remember when
You and God broke up?
He said
Your wickedness would show,
Said your skin would be
Black on your bones.

Shows what He knows.

I'm not a paladin.
I've got a fetish for
Your skin,
And your eyes.
It's a dust storm
Of a world, so
Keep your head
Down.
I'll tuck your soul up under my
Life.

Sungod. The Authority.
My
Sungod.
This is night
For day,
And watching you
By this strange light,
Is prayer.
I have
Little faith these days.

I dream this is
A dark ride.
I have carnival dreams.
It's artifice-
We pretend for kisses when
We scream.

I have little faith these days,
Little faith these days,
Little faith
These days.
My religion
Denies
Everything
But you.

Snow Globe. The Pretender.
There's bitter weather,
Violent wind,
Inside a snow globe.
If you stand still,
It will
Keep and
Preserve you in
Biting cold.
I have
A well-earned love of
The sound of
Breaking glass.
This may hurt
A little.
Nothing
Burns like
Skin when it starts to thaw.

Haunt. The Pretender.
You'll try to trace this call,
(Ohh...)
In case I fucked
Up this time.
You say the smart ones do
Dumb things.
(Dumb things)
I guess you know
Your own mind.
Don't tell me you don't have time
For games.
(You've nearly)
You've nearly vanished
(Vanished in)
In smoke.
(Smoke)
You've wasted every toxic breath,
(Toxic breath)
Since you grew up to be her ghost.
(To be her ghost)
(Her ghost)
I'm coming 'round to think
You must believe
(You must believe)
Some ancient law of haunts
(Haunts)
Has nailed you down.
'Til your restless spirit's
Satisified, you'll
(Ohh...)
Rattle chains and pace
The prison grounds.
(Ohh...)
(I'm not)
(I'm not)
I'm not coming back,
For you or anything else.
(Ohh...)
Some guys bring flowers,
(Ohh...)
Some guys buy rings.
I'll send you
Safe deposit keys,
'Til you've put away
Your childish things.
(I'm not)
I'm guessing that you
Will find your way
To the place and time
(Ohh...)
The deed was done.
And when you finally see him with her eyes,
I'm hoping that you'll have the sense to run.
(Sense to run)
(Ohh...)
(Save yourself)
I'm not coming back,
So you'll have to come here.

Audience. Homicide: Life on the Street. This is my other favorite song.
Put one past me,
Didn't you?
Past my window it's steady rain and you-
Still doing that
Graceful fall.

(Ohh...)
So your failure had legs and it danced you to this end of the line,
(And all those years)
And all of those years that was your partner when, babe,
I could have sworn you were mine.
(I could have sworn)
All those years there was a rhythm,
A pulse and a rhyme.
(Ohh...)
And all of those years you were falling through time.
(Ohh...)
(Steady rain and you)
Now should I make it go away, babe?
Should I just wave my hand?
(Ohh...)
Or did you want me for an audience
When you land?
(Ohh...)
(Steady rain and you)
Talk it up,
Spill your guts,
Anyone would.
The whole world would confess to me,
If they could.

Sparrows. Queer as Folk UK. Just in case anyone didn't get it the first time.
Only so close,
Only so far.
Can't stand to know
Where the demarcations are.

I won't be told,
"Hold it there."
I won't care-
I don't,
I don't care.

No intervention.
No follow-through.
God watches sparrows and I
Watch you.
Oh, look at you.

I'll pour my heart out.
You say,
You say,
You say when.

It's River Past Audio Converter (http://www.download.com/River-Past-Audio-Converter/3000-2140_4-10326386.html?tag=lst-0-2), but sadly, it seems to be only a Windows program. Truthfully though, U don't know if I'd reccommend it anyway; it has some strange quirks, and the only reason I use it is because it's the first free one I stumbled across.

Oh, but I don't mind. Do you know if you can play .mp4 files? Because I also have the whole CD in that still on my computer from loading it to Itunes.

I think I can probably play .mp4 files; I can certainly play .m4a files, and I suspect they may be the same thing. Quicktime can translate most formats, actually -- the only thing I know it can't handle is .wma, and I have a nifty converter utility that can take care of that if it has to. So if it isn't too much of a pain to put them up, I think it's worth a try from my end.

Mind you, now I feel like an idiot, because I was too blind this morning to see that you'd put up links to individual files as well as to the album zip. I've just tried downloading "Sparrows," and indeed, it's a tiny file, and it opens and plays perfectly well.

Only the thing is, it's such a tiny file that even I can hear compression artifacts, and I liked it enough to want to hear it without them. Which is yet another reason why you shouldn't bother if it's any trouble at all: now I'm really just being greedy.

Ah, yes, that's what I meant to say. I knew it had a m and 4 in the filename, at least.

Here they are (http://www.nextdooruniverse.com/Bonding), then. Not on yousendit because I couldn't convince it to upload an unzipped folder and I didn't want to take the time to do each indivdually.

Of course, I could have solved this whole problem by listening to the files before I linked to them, but that would have taken too much time.;)

Got them; thanks! And they sound lovely now.

Of course, I could have solved this whole problem by listening to the files before I linked to them, but that would have taken too much time.;)

It's kind of you to say so, especially since I'm sure nobody but me would ever have noticed, let alone whined about it. I could have solved this whole problem by reading carefully the first time, and shutting up thereafter.

On the other hand, I can't complain about the results, now can I?
