Re: things
Aug. 3rd, 2004 10:40 pmI start a new job tomorrow. Well, not really new, as I've done it for three or so years now. Let's say... I go back to my temporary job that I've been on break from for the last eleven months tomorrow.
I'll be working at the Anthony-Thomas booth at the State Fair. (State Fairs: hicks and unwashed animals, all for the price of admission!) Anthony-Thomas is a local gourmet candy company which specializes in fudge, buckeyes and chocolate-covered strawberries, which means I will smell really good, but will have to deal with the approximately 5,000,000 people who will wander by and bitch about the prices without buying anything. But it's a fun enough way to earn money.
I spent most of yesterday evening making five new icons, which I haven't done in a while. This *points at icon* is one of them. All shareable, in case anyone actually wants one.
I've spent a lot of time lately writing. Or if not actually writing, doing things related to it: sketching out outlines, fixing plot details, pinning down characterizations- and that always make me particularly antisocial. Not online, necessarily- if I don't want to talk, I just won't come on AIM- but with my family. It's hard for me to do other things while writing, even simple things like watch TV or hold a conversation, and if I'm right on the verge of getting some turn of phrase or emotion right, I'll be really snappish about NEED ALONE TIME NOW. I don't mean to be, but I need to be really involved to get anything done. There's nothing more frustrating than just grasping some idea and then losing it because someone wandered into the room and started a monologue about some movie they just watched. I always feel bad about it, but I don't want to explain that I need time to work on the epic gay adventures of cartoon characters. Yeah, that'd be a fun conversation. I just don't like feeling like such a brat.
Also, I desperately want the Manic Street Preachers remix of Inertia Creeps. If anyone sends it to me, I will love you forever.

And hey, thanks! The Manics rock.
