Whew. This weekend was a combination of being extremely tired and extremely busy. I don't think I have the energy needed to watch after small children for large amounts of time.

And note to the bitchy neighbor lady: No, I did not yell at your son. I didn't even raise my voice. I just told him to stop, because I would think a seven year-old should know better than to pick up small kittens by the tail. So do not snap at me.

There's a great soundtrack up over on [livejournal.com profile] fst for the Kushiel trilogy books, which I read and found sort of guilty-pleasure like. They're definitely not great literature, they've got plenty of purple prose and the disturbing phenonemom of having unusual metaphors repeated multiple times (how many times did Joscelin get described as a "lodestone"? I mean, Jesus, think up some new terms). But the world building is very good, the characters are fairly interesting, and if it hits any of your story kinks- political intrigue, spies, courtesans, BDSM- they're worth a read.

Speaking of fantasy books, [livejournal.com profile] jennyo wrote a ficlet based on Robin Hobb's Farseer Trilogy, possibly my favorite books of all time. It's here, part of her Thirteen Conversations About Teh Gay II fic. And btw, Hobb had a novella in the new Legends book. It's a story of the first settlers in the Rain Wilds, and I liked it a lot. The book also has a story by Neil Gaiman, from American Gods, so y'all should check it out.

I updated my memories, so now I'm pretty sure that I've got everything I've ever written collected here. Unless I missed something. Heh. Man, I'd totally forgotten about that Jerry Springer ClubSoka drabble. Which is actually in the comments of that entry, but I don't think you can put a comment in your memories. Can you?

I assume you shouldn't read the Robin Hobb fic unless you've read more than the first third of the Farseer Trilogy but I'm going to ask just in case...should I read it?

Well, there's a tiny spoiler for some Kettricken/Verity stuff, but the whole fic's only a few paragraphs long, so I don't think it'd ruin anything too much for you. Besides, the fic centers around a Patience/Lacey pairing, and if you've read the first book, you know them well enough. I'd say read it, unless you avoid even minor spoilers.

I'll read it when I'm a little further along in the book and have a better idea of what's going on, then. Cool.

I'm glad you're reading Hobb's books though. I absolutely adore them and wish they were more famous than they are. I'm always pimping them out to people.

I got the rec from a friend who feels the same way. (Hmm, maybe I should make her watch Yami.)

No, you can't put a comment in your memories, only entire posts. ^^ Which is a bummer, but I think the whole post is worth it anyway. :D

*grins* Glad you liked!

And yeah, I do like the whole post- I just worried that people might not scroll down to the comments, and miss most of the content.
