Ow. Ow. Ow.
Apr. 27th, 2004 07:49 pmSo. Yesterday was warm and sunny and all things wonderful, and I decided to go and do some studying while lying out in the grass. Which was nice. Until I fell asleep and woke up about two hours later.
And I had a moment of panic, but I didn't feel that sunburnt, and I didn't hurt, and I hadn't yet even begun to turn pink anywhere, so I figured I'd gotten lucky. And by the time I went to bed that night, I was kinda pink, but it didn't seem that bad, nothing to really worry over.
Ha ha ha.
I woke up this morning to fairly badly sunburnt arms and back, and my legs, from the knee down, are a color that should not be seen anywhere in nature. Except maybe boiled lobsters. And the lobsters are lucky, because they are DEAD AND THEREFORE DO NOT FEEL THE PAIN. I am so red I'm almost purple, although possibly that's just because I'm BRUISING FROM THE PAIN.
In case I haven't mentioned, this is slighty painful.
Also, I can't stand up. I can sit or lie down fine, I can walk (kinda...), but for some reason standing still is just not an option. Do you have any idea how hard it is to go about your day without ever standing still? You wouldn't think it'd be too difficult, but then you get stuck waiting for a bus/elevator/person to move out of your way, and you get the choice of which you'd rather do in public: plop straight down on the ground, or pace back and forth like an insane tiger without a cage. Because standing still means GIANT CRAMPING PAINS AND THE FEELING THAT YOUR LEGS DO NOT WANT TO STAY INSIDE YOUR SKIN, AND IF YOU DON'T MOVE RIGHT NOW, THEY WILL MAKE AN ESCAPE ATTEMPT.
And wow, was attempting to take a shower fun.
>.<
Why does summer hate me so? I love it. But it wants me to die horribly of skin cancer. Anyway. Between this, a midterm, test and three classes today, a paper tomorrow, a paper Thursday, and another midterm Thursday, I'm not going to be online much.
Also, my roommate is sleeping, so I can't go in the bedroom to read. ARGH. *STABS EVERYTHING*
capslock solves all problems. ^_^

Date: 2004-04-28 11:13 am (UTC)Besides, it's just a sunburn. They always go away in a day or two. Um, right? ^^;;

Date: 2004-04-28 12:50 pm (UTC)The quote is from Bang Bang by Nancy Sinatra. It's on the Kill Bill 1 soundtrack. :O Now a very happy song, but nobody that just sees the icon has to know.. XD

Date: 2004-04-27 05:45 pm (UTC)Oh, that sucks so bad. I have been there, done that. More than once. In fact, at one point I did it at a nude beach and burned my breasts. Yes. Ow.
*Gives you soothing gel and a cool bath*
For future reference, if you suspect you've gotten even a bit pink, best to take a long cool shower once you get home. Otherwise the burning continues to happen even after you're out of the sun, which is why what seems to be a mild burn one day can turn out to be a bad one the next.

Date: 2004-04-28 11:19 am (UTC)Oh, and really? Wow, I never knew that. Thanks! I'm sure it'll help in the future (given my track record, I'll probably do something stupid and burn myself again before the month's out). *hugs*

Hiking. I... I shudder at the thought, I do. And offer you belated hugs, though I'm sure you're over it by now (at least, I hope so).
And thanks! ^^ I am feeling a lot better. Which is the nice thing (the only nice thing) about sunburns: they're very temporary. At least, yanno, until the sun cancer starts in. ^^;;

Date: 2004-04-27 06:12 pm (UTC)Just a thought, but the rehydration drinks that are used for when someone has diahorrea might be useful in easing the cramping problems.

Date: 2004-04-28 11:25 am (UTC)And hey, that's a good idea. I used to get similar leg cramps when I was sleeping, and I remember someone telling me that those are often a system of dehydration. Obviously I need to start drinking more water. ^^;;
