Mmmmm, I am tired. Even though it's really early still, I'm tired. *sigh* I would go to bed now, but I just painted my fingernails and they're not dry yet. So no bed. Instead I shall spam Lj, because there's no one on AIM for me to bug.
La la la la.
I am sure you are facinated.
Um. In the topic of interesting things, my mealplan card broke on me this weekend. At my college, you buy a certain number of meals for each quarter, and then each time you eat in one of the cafeterias, they swipe your ID card, which counts off one meal from your account. Simple. But my card has a slight crease in it, from being carried around in my pocket for two years now, and it didn't want to work. And of course no one can fix this problem because all the offices are closed on weekends, so I had to make a big deal of giving my social security number and signing papers every time I tried to eat this weekend. Very embarassing. Will be so glad to get it fixed tomorrow.
Also, um, I... I had a mung bean bubble tea for the first time on Friday. It was good, but I prefer red bean, which tastes similiar, but a little more chocolate-y. And then I went and bought the second Gravitation manga, but I haven't had time to read it yet. This weekend was wicked busy.
I went to a frat party this weekend, which is the first time since... *thinks about it* early last year. However, there was a live band and actual dancing at this party, which makes it roughly a hundred times better than the other frat parties I've been too. I also saw the DVD of 'A Mighty Wind', which was funny, a live production of Oscar Wilde's 'An Ideal Husband', which was also funny, and the next-to-last episode of Carnivale, which wasn't very funny, but was so, so, so good. Steak 'n Shake has eggnog milkshakes now. I think you all needed to know this. Now go buy one! Mmmm, eggnog.
What else to say, what else to say... my nails are getting drier, w00t. Hmm. Hey, current ClubSoka wordcount is: 11,929. Which is 1,846 more than the last time I posted it, but since that was more than two months ago, it's really sad and not at all impressive. But since nearly all of those words were written in the last few days, it's a nice sign that I'm really getting back into it.
Which is good. Yep.
*pokes at fingernails*
Um. Right now, I'm reading 'The Last Samurai', which is a funny story. Years ago, somehow had reccommended the book to me, specifically as having a really unusual style. It'd kinda stayed stuck in the back of my mind, as one of those books that I need to read 'someday'. Well, this movie 'The Last Samurai' is coming out in December, and I keep seeing previews for it, and it looked interesting. And I remembered the book someone had said was so good, so I decided I'd see it when it came out. And when I stumbled across it in Barnes&Nobles a while ago, I decided to get it.
Yeah. The book is so not the same thing as the movie. Same title, but that's it. But it's good anyway, and I'm having fun reading it, so I reccommend it to y'all. Definately unusual style- it's the diary and random notes of the two main characters, and switches back and forth between them abruptly and without warning, sometimes even in the middle of a sentence. But it's fairly easy to follow despite that, and has some really interesting themes and ideas.
So...
*checks fingernails again*
*checks email*
Yeah, I think I'll go to bed now.

Date: 2003-11-24 03:19 pm (UTC)You watch Carnivale, you watch Carnivale, you watch Carnivale! Wheeeeeeeeeee! Nobody I know watches it, I was all alone in my carnie love.
But yes, I am also all about the Sophie/Libby. They'd been playing with it for so long, I was wondering if it was just going to stay subtext. (Which is my fault for being in slash fandoms for so long, I never expect subtext to actually get acknowlegded). But they did! Yay!
And I'm hoping for a second season. I really like the show, and I want to see more of it.

Re: subtext. My roommate eventually stopped yelling at the characters (modus operandi for her is to scream 'make out' whenever she spots some subtext) on the theory that they were going to do it anyway without any encouragement at all.
Re: fulfillment of subtext. ARG!!!

Date: 2003-12-01 09:15 pm (UTC)So, who's your third favorite character? Sophie? She was so mean in the finale! I mean, yeah, I kind of understand why she did it, but still... Mean. So mean. Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeean.
The whole finale was just... *_* So good, in that angsty, oh my god, I can't believe that just happened sort of way.
