The Musketeers, 1.02
This was an incredibly episodic episode, but that's alright, because d'Artagnan is very pretty and I appreciate the other Musketeers trying to teach him things. This plot is an example of some of the cognitive dissonance of telling a story about a king's guards in the modern day- when your bad guy wants to overthrow the king to help out the poor oppressed peasants, my sympathy is not automatically with the king because o! horrors! Divine Right! ...or something, I don't even know. But anyway, clearly the way to fix this is to make the overthrow-er a cynical lying bastard, so it all works out.

It continues to really bother me that Milady isn't blonde. I don't know why, as I have no problems with Porthos's actor being black, Aramis's being Spanish, or d'Artagnan's being Sicilian. And yes, that is mostly because they're all very pretty, but so is Maimie McCoy. Apparently I consider Milday's blondness fundamental to her character.

Leverage
"The Gone Fishin' Job": It's Sheriff Corbin! As an evil tax-evading militia leader. I love it. Hardison and Eliot handcuffed together! There's a thousand trope fanfics written about this episode, aren't there? I'm glad they called out the black dude chased by dogs through a forest, because... well, yes. "I stole you a train; have a little faith"! "Science: it works"! Video fishing!

"The Boost Job": Someone on this show loves making cheesy commercials, and I love them for it. I like how they give people random vacations to get them out of the way. Ha, Eliot's "I don't listen to you." Poor Hardison. Hadison calls shotgun!

"The Three Card Monte Job": Hahaha, I find Hardison having to explain what smart phones are way too amusing. Parker is always so excited about tasering someone! Hardison grabs his orange pop when he's fleeing the building! Ouch, Nate's dad telling him he's not ruthless enough (and nice call back to "The Scheherazade Job"). Perfect casting for the father, by the way; he has exactly the right sort of face for the character, that mix of worn and charming and cold. Nate's not my favorite character, but I really liked this episode, and the insight into him.

"The Underground Job": "And then you can steal her-" "Soul!" Whoa, Sophie is totally into seducing this woman. I... I would read that fic. OMG IT'S SARAH PALIN IT'S TOTALLY SARAH PALIN. Oh man, Sophie and Hardison's faces when the bad guy rants about unions. Perfection. Hardison is trying so hard to be friends with Eliot- hugging him, "for morale", joking with him. And yet, it doesn't work. Apparently if he wants Eliot to hug him, he needs to be a vulnerable 16-year-old. OMG "old people" sex, ahahaha. Sophie is WAY into seducing this lady. I just needed to repeat that. Whoa, Eliot, I don't think I've ever heard the phrase "good ol boys" used in a positive sense.

"The Rashomon Job": THIS EPISODE WAS AMAZING. I LOVE THE IDEA I LOVE THE EXECUTION I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT. Hardison calling Nate out about the hypnosis! "Don't worry, my friend, death will not claim you this day"! OMG ELIOT'S VERSION OF SOPHIE. "SEA ROACHES". OMG HARDISON FLIRTING WITH EVERYONE. "You want to come to my... Well, I live with my Nana, but we can go to your spot, though." "I'm gonna go sharpen this knife. Maybe walk around the halls. In the dark." OMG Parker skips when she has the dagger! BARON OIL CARES OMG.

"The King George Job": OMG ANTIQUITY SMUGGLING CON. Hey, it's James Frain! A whole Sleepy Hollow reunion. Hardison is into steampunk! I don't understand why Hardison is randomly walking around in a tanktop, but I APPROVE. "Do I have to steal a corpse again?" ...I need that backstory. I cannot comment on Sophie's recommendations on smelling antiquities, but y'all, licking ceramics is an actual field trick to easily differentiate between it and rock! I AM SO AMUSED THAT THIS KNOWLEDGE IS RELEVANT. "I've hacked history!" "Very distinctive haircuts!" I actually teach about antiquity smuggling and it's relation to the art market in my 'Intro to Archaeology' class, so I'm very tempted to somehow include this episode. Probably not, though cute little girls do make every ethical issue seem more relevant!

I knoooooow! It's such a perfect book for a movie or TV show. I sort of suspect many of the people adapting it haven't actually read it.
