Here are some vids I have liked recently! You should watch them and like them also, or tell me more vids to watch.
Homewrecker by
fahrbotdrusilla. Anna Karenina. So, I may be the only person in the world in love with last year's Anna Karenina movie (Even though I didn't like the book? But the movie! I totally saw it multiple times in theaters shut up it is SO PRETTY), but even if you didn't see it and/or like it, this vid is awesome and kickass and I love it.
Supremacy by
rhoboat. Craig James Bond. I haven't seen most of the Craig Bond movies, and also I have a sort of inexplicable hatred for Muse, but somehow none of that matters because this vid is amazing and perfect and so well-constructed.
Devil Wouldn't Recognize You by
obsessive24. Elementary. Another one where I haven't seen the canon (though I've been meaning to watch it), but the lyrics and the images are just put together so well you get the story from the vid alone.
obsessive24 is one of my favorite vid makers.
Alice by Pogo. Disney's Alice in Wonderland. This is weird and not at all like most vids, and yet I find it somehow fascinating.
Va Va Voom by Jetpack_Monkey. I Love Lucy. It's I Love Lucy to a Nicki Minaj song! What more do you need to know? Funny and brilliant.
Run Boy Run by
hollywoodgrrl. Game of Thrones. This is by far my favorite; if you only watch one vid from this post, make it this one. Beautiful and smart and horrifying, it's a commentary on violence and women in the GoT world. I love the parallels set up between such disparate characters.

Date: 2013-09-12 11:09 pm (UTC)I've totally forgotten that Britney Spears vid - I love it, thank you for reminding me. Bachelorette is the perfect vidding song - I'd seen the Buffy version before, but not the Utena version and WOW, it is amazing. I loved that movie in a terrified kind of way, but I don't remember individual scenes so much, and this was a great reminder.
Also a (very popular) Buffy's sexuality vid: Coin-Operated Boy (http://www.wolfpupserenade.com/buffyvids.html) (I love the angriness/vulnerability), and a more obscure Spike-y one that I love: Playground Twist (http://quinara.dreamwidth.org/56152.html#comments). Oh, and another one about Hamlet, and Ophelia's entrappedness and slow rageTriceratops (http://quinara.dreamwidth.org/35805.html#cutid1).
I loved the True Blood vid! I do wish I knew more about that canon - I love the concept but have never had time to actually watch it.
Posession was absolutely glorious.
Dirge (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=kwL7ztIMjDs) it's Johnny Cash and Cowboy Bebop, and it's sexy and scary in equal measure.
Imagica (http://www.ketsuryu.com/en/amv-clips/imagica-par-chiikaboom/) - the most meta vid ever, about the magical girl genre, which I, you know, don't know too much about, but the vid was entirely understandable anyway.

Date: 2013-09-13 09:58 pm (UTC)Ah, Utena. I'm not sure I have any idea of what is happening for 75% of that movie, but Jesus Christ the visuals are amazing.
OMG, COIN OPERATED BOY IS SO GOOD. SO GOOD. The others are also great, but Coin Operated Boy! I'd never seen it before and I am in love.
True Blood is odd. It's so dumb and trashy, but it's very self-aware regarding its own dumbness, which almost brings it back around to being good. But not quite. I don't think I could genuinely recommend it; the season that just ended was about fairy-vampire brides. I mean, look at that phrase: "fairy vampire brides". There is no reason for anyone to spend 10 hours (or however many episodes it was) with that nonsense. And that's not even getting into the vampire concentration camp or Lilith, the immortal vampire goddess or ghost!parents trying to drown their still-living children. And yet I watch every episode.
Oh, Dirge was really good, and made me want to watch Cowboy Bebop. And Imagica was INCREDIBLE. Even though I've only seen 1.5 of the series it's using, wow. I could watch that a hundred times.
Another Buffy vid I really like is Origin Stories (http://giandujakiss.livejournal.com/360051.html) (about Spike and Robin Wood, but also race and power and responsibility).
Have you seen Lucky You (http://permetaform.livejournal.com/178132.html) (The Ring)? It's more of a summary of the movie than a commentary on it, but it's so creepy! I adore it.
I'm running out of vids to recommend, but I also really love There Still Remains the Cocaine Bottle (http://damned-colonial.dreamwidth.org/451780.html) (RJD Sherlock Holmes movies, or movie, as I think this vid is old enough there was only the one movie at the time), which is a really fantastic Holmes character study. And also sort of OT3-y!
