Poly Big Bang

So, I just found out about polybigbang! I am very tempted to sign up, because obvious threesome is obvious, and you even get (potentially) fanart! But I've never written anything 10k long. But on the third hand, I have written things that aren't too much shorter, and the rough draft isn't even due until October. So I can't decide. Also I don't have any plot ideas, which would probably be helpful.

Anyone else considering this? Anyone else done a big bang?

Sorry, no help from me - it took me YEARS to get my courage up for Yuletide, and that's only a thousand words. I'll be happy to cheer you on, though.

Really? That's interesting! I love Yuletide so that I'm always surprised when people say they find it intimidating or unappealing.

The nice thing about Big Bangs, though, is that you're not writing to anyone else's prompt or tastes, and if you end up dropping out, at least you're not depriving someone of a gift.

This. Ten thousand words requires PLOT, and that's terrifying.

Ha, that is a bit how I feel. I have a pretty good sense of what I want to happen with the characters, romance-wise, but I have absolutely no ideas for a plot. And 10k words is short enough that you can do just the romance, if that's what the writer wants, but I want to have mystery! adventure! something! And I don't know how I'm going to do that.

I've got till October, though, so hopefully I will come up with something!

Did you have fun? Did you like it better or worse than doing art outside of a specific challenge? Did you get a lot of comments?

I usually do have fun- I like drawing things to make people happy, so whenever I manage that there's a bonus in it! And I try to pick stories where the summary mentions things I can imagine visually. There's more freedom of ideas in a reverse bang, I'd like to do a few more of them, too, it's neat to try to invent a picture that shows enough to be a kick-off for a story.

Generally the fic gets many more comments than any of the art does? Which might be an incentive for your writing. :)
I don't belong to deviantart, so actually the best art comments I've gotten pretty much EVER are from doing the Good Omens holiday exchange.

Yeah, I've noticed that with story+art things, the artist very often doesn't get many comments, which always makes me sad. I try to make a point of leaving comments for the artists.

I think with a relationship like that, you should do it! Just remember you build a big story a bit at a time, like every other story :D

I've never written a story so long before, so we'll how that goes, ha.

And there's a couple other people writing Kirk/Spock/Uhura, at least, so I'd think they would be interested! Also, my fandom has about three people in it, so I feel your pain.

T'Pring had like six lines in one episode, but she is 100% amazing (and hot) and needs more love. I'm also disappointed in the way IDW, who is doing the "Star Trek Ongoing" reboot comic, handled the pon farr plot. So I'd rewrite it but, um, I'm not sure how to do it either ^_^;;
