So, I am being spectacularly unproductive today, as apparently all I am capable of doing is refreshing my f'list, reading friendsfriends, reading someone else's friendsfriends, reading strangers' friendsfriends, etc. I kind of just want to poke at LJ forever more. And thus: a meme!

Ask me anything. Feel free to comment anonymously, if you prefer.

I don't know why I think this will help me actually write the proposal-thing I need to, but it can't make me less productive, so I figure it is worth a try. And if it doesn't work, hopefully at least we will all be amused.

Mmmm. What country(ies) would you like to visit that you haven't, not necessarily for work purposes?

Definitely Japan, but you could probably guess that. XD I've always wanted to see Thailand, and Italy (particularly Venice). Egypt, though I have fairly good odds for getting there at least once for work purposes. I've heard interesting things about Iceland. And Russia might be neat; even if I hate winter, all the images of furs and ice and snow and vodka seems glamorous (ha, I clearly know nothing at all about Russia, so watch me reduce it to stereotypes).

Darling! I have always wanted to go to St. Petersburg more than anything. We should look into this.

Ha, Russia seems so far away! But we should look into it, then, I suppose.

We should. It's good to know. And good to get it on our list (I'm totally down with Japan, too, btw). And dude it's less far away than: India and Australia, so really... not that big of deal.

Yeah, I know. I don't know why it seems further away; it just sort of does? I think because it's sort of not near anything else (well, Russia is, obviously, but St. Petersburg, not so much), whereas India is near Pakistan and Sri Lanka and so forth.

When I procrastinate I read the friendslist of various communities.

What is your favorite field work memory?

What is your favorite holiday food, from any holiday?

Do you like coconuts?

I had not thought of that!

1. It is hard to pick one! When I was working in Nevada, we were living in tents (it was very, very rural Nevada, near the border with Utah, and we were a two hour drive from the nearest grocery store, much less hotel). There would be these huge thunderstorms, absolutely enormous, that we would be able to see rolling towards us for ages, all streaks of silent light in the sky, before they finally got to us. And then when they hit, the thunder was so loud you couldn't hear anything else, and the rain fell like a swimming pool dumped on your head. Anyway, I remember waking up in the nights to these unbelievable storms- white lightening that left aftershocks in your eyes and thunder that was short cracks instead of long, rolling rumbles and just so much rain- wrapped warm and dry in my sleeping bag, knowing that the water couldn't get into my tent, though I could see the walls shake from it, see the lightening through them, and it was just the best feeling, knowing the storm was there but it couldn't get me, and that there were hours till morning and I had no nowhere to be and nothing to do except fall back asleep.

2. Hmmmmm. Pumpkin pie! Or maybe candy corn (does that count? I associate them pretty strongly with Halloween).

3. Ew, no. I loathe them. Except for one kind of naan, which I cannot remember what it's called right now, but it's stuffed with butter and sugar and fresh shredded coconut, and is amazing. But that is the only form in which I will eat them.

Hmmm. Sometimes yes, sometimes no! It depends on my mood.

To be honest, I haven't followed Buffy fandom closely since way back in the day, so this is very out-of-date and also probably reveals that I was 15 when I first read it, but I adore Many Loves (http://www.fangedfour.com/fangs/fiction/manyloves01.html) SO MUCH. STILL. Even though I can read it now and see how melodramatic it is. Oh, man, I had printed off copies of this story. I love it with all my emo teen heart.
