So, at camp last week. More about that later, possibly. Will be gone all of next week too, for vacation at Lake Erie. And now,
I. History
1. First fanfic you've ever read?
Jesus Christ, I don't even know. Probably in the Buffy fandom, I was really into it back when we first got the internet.
2. When?
Probably January/December 1999/2000
3. Last fic?
Hope's Primary Colors.
Last fic I really liked? hegira. Go read it. Real short and real good. Yum.
4. When?
Primary Colors, about 10 minutes ago. Hegira, about 4 hours ago.
5. First fanfic you've ever written?
"City of Angels". Still unfinished, and currently unavailable on the net, until I bother to set up another site.
6. When?
Early 2001.
7. Last fic you've finished?
A LotR fic I can't remember the name of and that I don't feel like looking up.
8. When?
Early 2002.
9. How many fandoms have you been involved in? (Just writing/reading a single story doesn't count.)
Buffy, Angel, LotR, VC and Sentinel
II. Here and now
9. How many different stories are you currently writing?
Two, but most likely neither will actually be finished.
10. In how many different fandoms?
Just one, Buffy.
11. Will you finish them all?
Probably not. One of them's closer than anything's been in a while.
12. Do you jump from fic to fic, or pick one and stick to it till it's written?
Sometimes one, sometimes the other.
13. How many fandoms do you consider yourself interested it at the moment?
three, buffy, LotR and Sentinel
14. How many of them would you say you're actually obsessed about?
Just Buffy
III. Favorites and preferences
15. Favorite fandom?
Right now? Buffy.
16. Least favorite fandom you've ever been involved in?
Why would you be involved with it if you didn't like it? But, Sentinel, I guess, just because I've never connected as much to the characters as I have with other fandoms. However, it did have lots of amazing authors, so I still spend a lot of time with it.
17. Number of authors who've made you cry with their stories?
Jessica Walker, for Many Loves and To Take You In.
VB, for Phantom Pain and Last Standing.
The Brat Queen, for The Chosen of God.
18. Most memorable line/paragraph you've ever read in a fic?
From Jessica's Many Loves, after Angelus asks Spike if he loves him:
""But could you always?" he demands intensely. "If things were different- if everything changed, if I changed- would you still?"
"Of course," I whisper hoarsely. Who does he think I am- Darla? Does he think my love can turn with comings or goings, life or death or the changes of tides? My love is older than either of us, twice as stubborn and three times as stupid. My love will outlast us both. "Of course, always."
Bloody stupid question."
Love it. Love it, love it, love it. It's so perfectly how I picture love: stupid, stubborn, but older and more powerful than anything else. And, from later in the fic:
"Cause there's only one way I know how to love.
Forever. "
Sigh. I think I was Spike in another life. One where I was soulless, and evil, and, y'know, vampires were real.
19. Favorite line/paragraph you've ever written?
Hah! I can't even remember most of what I've written by now.
20. Are you a OTP person or do you just 'mix and match'?
I have a few pairings that I read, and I ignore most everything else. So, Some True Pairings?
21. Do the stories you read/write and your involvement in fandom change the perception of the show (FPFic) / the people (PRFic) in question?
Yes, but I don't do RPF.
22. If yes, how so?
I explore a character and their motivations. For instance, I won't hate Xander nearly as much if I've recently read a fic about him, because I'll better understand why he does what he does. And Dawn has ceased to be *so* annoying since I started playing her in my RPG, because I've been forced to actually think about her as a person and as a character, instead of just something I wish would go away.
