Crib Girls
Website Description:
A 'The District' scent. Situated on of the lowest rungs in the Red Light District's hierarchy, the crib girls solicited from their windows and doorways, entertaining their clients in sparsely furnished, dingy two-room apartments. Seven honeys under one unkempt roof, with fiery-tart cubeb and dusty cardamom.
In Vial: HONEY. Nom. It even has that crystallized-sugar smell that really good, thick honey has. Which is awesome, because I love honey, and it's the main reason I wanted this scent.
Wet: Very lemon-y, which apparently is what cubeb smells like, I discovered by reading other reviews. The honey is all gone, replaced entirely by lemon. But it's a great moist lemon smell, like freshly-grated lemon zest. I usually don't like any sort of fruit or citrus perfumes, but this is so fresh and crisp that I like it.
Dry: The honey begins slowly creeping back in, and eventually it becomes all honey, with maybe a hint of cardamom to make it soft and spicy. It's not quite as super sticky-sweet honey as it smells in the vial, but it's still very nice. I really like this one. It's not quite as sexy as Hetairae, which is also all about the honey, but it's very pretty and comfortable. It reminds me a good cozy-day scent, one for reading or drinking hot cocoa.

Eclipse
Website Description:
A 'Bewitching Brews' scent. All the glory, warmth and majesty of the sun -- darkened. A delicious blend of bitter almond, vanilla, frankincense and heliotrope, with a drop of cinnamon.
In Vial: Bitter almond, strongly, with a very faint sugar or fruit scent underneath it.
Wet: Bitter almond, turning much sweeter. I can definitely smell the vanilla in there, and maybe a hint of cinnamon. It has a sort of almond-cookie-ness to it right now.
Dry: Vanilla is the strongest scent, but not in a sickly-sweet way. I don't normally like vanilla, but this is rather nice; there's a very faint floral base which makes it seem more like vanilla-the-spice than vanilla-the-food, if that makes sense. This was a freebie, but I ended up liking it much more than I thought I would, reading the description.

Eau de ghoul
Website Description:
A Neil Gaiman scent. Dessicated skin coated in blackened ginger, cinnamon, and mold-flecked dirt, with cumin, bitter clove, leather, and dried blood.
In Vial: A strong floral scent, with a citrus-y note; it seems to me like lemon.
Wet: Lemony, with something sort of wood-y behind it, possibly the dirt. It kind of reminds me of Pledge on a wooden floor, to be honest.
Dry: The spices start to come out- particularly the clove, and then a little later the cinnamon- and it ends up being a not-bad, dusty, baked goods sort of smell. But not one that is very me, I have to say.
Notes: For a while I was convinced this bottle must have been mislabeled, because lemon? what? but reading other people's reviews, that seems to be a lot of people's reactions to this one. I suppose what's registering as lemon to me is actually the ginger, but I love ginger, and this really doesn't remind me of it. No big deal, though, since I got this for free at a comics book event.

One of the other Graveyard Book scents smelled straight up of banana peel.

I hated having to handle the imps because my hands would reek of squished banana for hours.

Ugh, that sucks. I think squished banana might be the only thing less appealing than lemon pledge.

I have the Curse of Lemon Pledge with ginger. :)

I've done well with other ginger; I think it might be the difference between ginger-the-spice and candied-ginger. But good to know that other people suffer as well!

It is really sweet and nice, even if it doesn't remind me of actual eclipses at all! ;)
