My review of Boondock Saints II

It was... silly. And oddly meta. Which is not really how I think of the Boondock Saints? And yet, amazingly enjoyable! Possibly even slashier than the first movie. Totally recommended.


The beginning is kind of melodramatic (SHEEP. ON A GREEN HILL. THE MACMANUS BROTHERS RIDING HORSES. WEARING WOOLEN SWEATERS. Do you feel Irish yet?), but I promise that it quickly gets better.

For a movie that has such a large number of offensive "not in a gay way"/"does this make me look gay"/"I'm not gay" jokes, it is completely amusing that they somehow make the brothers appear even slashier.

OMG THE SCENE WHERE THEY ARE DOING EACH OTHER'S TATTOOS. OMG.

I feel like the script was written with Williem Dafoe's character in mind, except then they couldn't get him. So they changed a few pronouns, renamed the character Eunice, and threw the poor actress in there. She was fine, but seriously, the Exact Same Character.

Wow, that is very clearly set up for another sequel.

SO SLASHY.


But the real point of this post is because obviously I now need fannish love. Does anyone have some good recs of fics and/or vids for The Boondock Saints?
