Summer lies on the land like chains of gold and lapis,
heavy and bright.
These days seem so long.

Oh. That's beautiful.

What novels about Heian Japan? Sounds fantastic!

And I got your card! Thank you!! I'm afraid mine got lost as I sent it just before the post strike - are you staying long enough that I could send you another now?

Thank you! It's called 'The Fox Woman' by Kij Johnson; really excellent. I highly recommend it.

I'm glad it made it! Mail here has been weird and slow. It seems to take between 2 and 3 weeks for anything to get here, which means you may not want to risk it, as I'm leaving 3 weeks from today. Thank you so much for the thought, though!

I'll look it up, thanks!

Yeah, it must be a lucky postcard indeed - it braved Syrian mail combined with Polish one on strike... :D Maybe mine will resurface too:)

That book is excellent.

I need to send you something when you get back, as I was a slacker about postcards.

I adored it. I'm so glad I'd decided to bring it with me.

She wrote another book that sounded good, though it didn't get the level of praise that The Fox Woman did. I'm still planning on reading it...at some point.

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it.

No, I don't recognize the name. A poet, I assume?

A novelist. (Apparently a poet also IIRC but I didn't know that until I looked it up just now.) Does atmosphere ~ although yours is less oppressive than his by several measures. If you ever get a chance to read The Twyborn Affair ... well, do give it a go^^.
