ARGHHHHHHHH I JUST SENT AN EMAIL TO A PROFESSOR FROM MY FANDOM EMAIL ACCOUNT.

ARGGGGGGGGGGH.

...well, it's okay. He's not going to google Brigdh, right? Right?

There are lots of Brigdhs anyway. I think.

Probably! But the first, like, six hits on google are me. Of course, he has no way of knowing that I'm not some other Brigdh!

...except that there's probably not multiple archaeology-grad-student-new-york Brigdhs.

Let's hope he just doesn't notice.

Plausible deniability.

I've done that before, too.

If you reply to his reply (to this problematic email) from the account you'd normally use and he may never notice?

That is my stealthy plan. And he's pretty unlikely to notice, I feel. I hope.

Almost all of my professors are less computer literate than I am. This brings me comfort in situations like this.

I hope your stealthy plan succeeds.

Hooray for stealthy plans. And appropriate Tsuzuki icons. And the distractedness of professors.

Plausible deniability! Also, somewhere there is an LJ tool for mass-locking public entries, if you are really worried about him finding LJ. Because the archaeology studies are a little identifiable, yes.

He probably gets so much email from so many students with so many email addresses that he doesn't even LOOK at the address. *Hugs*

To be honest, there is very little incriminating stuff on your LJ.

At least you didn't leave LJ open in a tab at work. Thankfully, I was logged out and I flock all personal work entries. >.>

Heh, I always worry about doing that when I check LJ on public computers.

Ah! I did that once when I was asking about a letter of rec. But, you know, think how busy professors are? Who has time? Or, that's what I told myself *g*

I do think that professors are usually busy enough not to notice the email address, but I'm holding my fingers crossed for you.
If it makes you feel better, I have once sent my professor a fic instead of the assignment. Luckily, she's a friend & therefore knew I'm fannish & the fic was gen, but I was embarassed regardless.

I have a friend whose email address -- her *only* email address -- is hugely fangirly, and she's been using this in her academic career for *years*.

As someone whose email provider is sailormoon.com, I admire her guts. I ended up getting another email address for real life stuff.

Hey, um.

You might want to lock this particular entry in case he does Google your fandom name? It's a dead giveaway.

Heh. I did a Google search for a coworker to make sure no one would find anything good when her email got (inadvertently) published, coz I thought it would be easier for her and I to talk it through that for her to find out another way. I think we all have to assume some combo of a) people have more to do than stalk us and b) if they find something they really can't deal with, they'll just pretend never to have seen it.

Uh, pardon me for butting in, and not that I'm saying he would, but I just googled you and the first hit I got was:
