Jul. 7th, 2007 09:33 amHello! I'm still alive!
I'm also still in Cyprus, but the project I'm currently working on has internet access. Which, of course, I cannot resist. I don't really have enough free time to keep up with my flist or with comments, but that's no reason why I shouldn't post.
Okay, who wants photos?
This is what Cyprus looks like:

Yeah, I wish. It doesn't look anything like this where I'm living. This is Governor's Beach.

This is the landscape of the village of Athienou, where I actually am. I'd rather live on the beach.
And this is the exciting events surrounding an archaeological site:

Yeah, that's a donkey trying to have sex with a horse. He was too short to make it work, but he tried every day, gosh darn it! We were fascinated by this saga of cross-species love. At least until the stallion came and chased the donkey away.
And, for Racheline, this is a photo of me working on flotation, a process that involves washing dirt to get seeds and other tiny things:

Me and my bucket!

Mmm, mud.
So, how are y'all?

Date: 2007-07-07 01:41 pm (UTC)Cyprus looks wonderful; one of my old managers went there on holiday and she adored it.
I have a letter for you, and stuff from Japan, but I might as well went until you come back to New York and send it all to you then.

Date: 2007-07-07 01:51 pm (UTC)There are *tons* of British tourists here for holidays. Not many Americans seem to come, though, since it's so far from us.
Eee, cool! I feel special. And I suppose I can wait until my return, though, um, I'll have a new address about a week and a half after getting there.

Date: 2007-07-07 01:56 pm (UTC)I'm waiting for you to go to the other site (or are you there yet?) to send a card, so you don't have them all at once and then feel letter-less:-)
Poor donkey. Hope he'll find someone to love him back:)

Date: 2007-07-07 01:57 pm (UTC)Yes, Cyprus is very popular for the sea, sun and sand type of holiday. No worries, I was going to send it to you in Cyprus, but then I started to worry that the Irish postal system would fail and not get it there on time, somehow, and that you'd have to bring it back anyway with you, so I figured it was better to wait. :)
Also, I kind of feel sorry for the donkey, hahaha. Determined little guy. XD

Date: 2007-07-07 02:00 pm (UTC)I feel he should have spent more time hanging out with the female donkey we saw occasionally, instead of following the horses. But I guess he wanted what he wanted!

Date: 2007-07-07 02:02 pm (UTC)Dude, the Cyprus postal system is pretty scary. I can only hope that things I've mailed have made it at all.
Yeah! He just wanted to make some mules.

Date: 2007-07-07 02:04 pm (UTC)I'll send my card Monday, it should reach you before you go home. Letters to Germany take two days from here, so I suppose two weeks has to be enough for them to reach Cyprus;-p
Maybe the female donkey was boring? And she didn't like Tolstoy, or something. Hmph.

Date: 2007-07-07 02:13 pm (UTC)And it shouldn't be too bad; other letters from America have been reaching me in 4 or 5 days. Whereas mine seem to take 1 or 2 weeks to get anywhere.
Hee! It could be. I never once saw her carrying a book, after all.

Date: 2007-07-07 02:19 pm (UTC)Fortunately I live in Europe, so it might be even easier! Guess small post offices work like that - sending all post once a week or something?
Hee hee. She need to learn more before she'll be good for our donkey:-p

Date: 2007-07-07 02:25 pm (UTC)Ah, that could be it. I've been trying to figure out why mail here was so slow.
Exactly! And until then, it's horses only for him.

Date: 2007-07-07 06:18 pm (UTC)Sooo... the exciting world of archeology, more swirling things in buckets, less Indiana Jones? *g* (Though I guess tragic interspecies lust counts for something.)
