I am desperately catching up on several weeks worth of LJ/DW, so if you've been getting lots of comments from me on old posts, that would be why. I am not yet all caught up, so expect more! Also, in case anyone is abandoning LJ in light of recent updates, I am on DW as "brigdh". Feel free to add me there if you prefer.

Let's start 2017 off in a positive way with a Pay It Forward meme. The first 6 people to comment (and more if I can manage it) will receive a surprise from me at some point in 2017 - anything from a book, a ticket, something home-grown or made, a postcard, absolutely any surprise! It will happen when the mood comes over me and I find something that I believe would suit you and make you happy.

I have several years worth of LJ/DW to catch up on, and have only just signed in for the first time in I-can't-even-remember-when to see this at the top of my reading list. It seems like an excellent omen, so I'm seizing the opportunity to wave across cyberspace.

I'm not sure it should count for meme purposes, though. At least, not until I'm sure that I'm not going to be buried under the metaphorical pile of books and papers sliding down around and over me, now that I've gone and opened the closet door.

I'm very out of touch, what happened? I assume something shady and/or stupid as that always seems to be the case with website updates.

They're moving the servers to Russia (LJ has been owned by a Russian company for several years now, but the servers had remained in the US, and technically the laws that apply to a website depend on where the servers are physically located), which has made people very concerned about potential sudden deletions, hacking, use of personal information, etc. Here's a post with more information (http://sholio.livejournal.com/751670.html).
