More summer plans
May. 9th, 2007 09:56 pmRemember when I posted about my summer plans being complete? Well, turns out I was wrong, because people love making me change my plans at the last moment.
I'll still be in Cyprus, and I'll still be leaving at the same time (the 25th of this month), I'll just be there for several extra weeks. After I finish at the first excavation, I will be heading to a different part of the island to join a second project, which is interested in starting flotation for the first time this year. It's a technique used to try and recover tiny floral materials, bones, fish scales, and other small things that would be thrown away with excess dirt otherwise. Which is fine, though I've never done it before, and told the people trying to sell me on this so.
"It's okay!" they said. "We've never done it either! We'll figure it out together."
So, I agreed, and had to rearrange my flight tickets so that I won't be getting back to New York until July 24th. (I will now be in London from the 21st to the 24th, by the way, if anyone is still interested in meeting!) It's an interesting project and I am glad to have the opportunity, though the extra time spent away from everything and everyone is relatively annoying.
Of course, this return date means I will have approximately a week to attempt to find a new apartment before my lease runs out, which is more annoying. Also annoying is having recently been told, hey, why don't I write a cover letter detailing my plans to set up and run flotation to send to the people in charge of the project! A thing which, you will remember, I have no idea of how to do. Guess what letter I am currently totally not working on.
And that's my summer for the moment! Hopefully there will be no additional changes.

However, if you will still be here at the end of July, I'd really like to hang out. Though, uh, you'll probably have to remind me two months from now. *grins*no subject
