My Leper Pony. Who had My Little Ponies when you were little? I had an entire herd, and was constantly using them to tell epic stories about war and kidnapping and battles and dramatic rescues, which tended to involve way more violence and far less hair-combing than I think the makers intended. I would have loved a Leper Pony.

Five Boroughs Ice Cream. Ha, this is awesome! I wish my neighborhood had a flavor. Actually, these sound really tasty, but I think I'm too lazy to go out to Queens just to buy ice cream.

Texas Senator proposes offering $500 to women who give up their children for adoption. Wow. Selling children. That's totally a good way to make the pro-life supporters look not insane.

You know that Hemmingway quote which starts, "the world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong at the broken places"? I love that quote. I've used it for a title. What I would not want, however, is it on a t-shirt. The internet really does have everything; too bad so much of it is stuff you can't imagine being useful.

Some interesting videos:
Kermit the Frog covers Nine Inch Nail's 'Hurt'. I... I... there are no words to describe this. I recommend you watch only if you enjoy seeing your childhood icons destroyed; it's nearly as bad as the Carebears BDSM story, really.

Tech Support in the Middle Ages. Ha! Very funny, a Monty Python-style sketch.

I was going to go dancing this weekend, but I'd forgotten that I'd accidentally given myself an enormous blister and that it hurts to walk now. Someday, I understand, I may actually grow up enough to refrain from constantly injuring myself, but at the moment at least it makes for amusing stories.

Also, there is the goose.

The duck? Yeah, but escaping having to deal with that via dancing would be entirely unproductive awesome.

Yes, the duck. Some sort of unfortunately boiled fowl.

Yeah, it really does make everyone's various fictional lives look less appealing, doesn't it?

Oh! fanfiction idea. Alec sort of deciding he's no longer interested in assembling a goose skeleton halfway through the process and Richard being all, no, you're going to do something that because now it's here, and I think I hate you.

I think you need to write that. A lot.

Hahahaha, poor Richard. Because that shit would smell even worse than my apartment does if you didn't have a refrigerator to hide it in between boilings.

I keep thinking about Alec reacting to getting a similar assignment, and I can't decide if he would be delighted for the gore of it, or if he would invent some grand melodramatic reason for how dare you even suggest such a thing and refuse to touch it. Hmmm. I suppose there's always thinking he would enjoy it, quickly discovering that he actually hates it, but refuses to admit so, thus insisting to Richard that really, letting it rot is all part of the process.

Yeah that sounds about right.

Well, I'm not doing it for you.

And Alec whining that they need a servant again.
In fact, maybe he would take it up to the Hill and ask one of the servants to finish with it.

Okay, th Kermit think kind of disturbed me right when Kermit stated shooting up and then the oral sex later on. I. um. kind of don't want to sleep now. D:

From: [identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com
I know, right! The link I got it from warned me it would be disturbing, but there's nothing that can adequately prepare you for Kermit jacking off.

...I think I missed that bit, or my mind just refused to click with it. D: D: D: And now I am telling the little voice in my head that's whispering "Come on, how bad could it be?" that no, a rewatch is far beyond my mental capabiities because, oh god, no no no.

Date: 2007-04-08 01:05 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com
*laughs* I'm still amazed at whoever did the voice. Because it sounds exactly like Kermit, but I don't think there's any way they could have put together old sound clips to get it to fit so well to the song. Although I sort of wonder about their mental state, to produce such a well-put-together video on such a topic.

It really did sound like Kermit! I did twitch a little when he said shit because, uh, well, Kermit.

I think they either mustn't have liked the Muppets as kids, which doesn't make sense for the amount of effort they put into this, or they're just incredibly good at distancing themselves from beloved childhood icons. I think this got to me more than the Care Bears BDSM because I tend to put on the Muppets when I'm really sick, so Kermit was a lot more fresh in my mind than Tender Heart. :|

I love how I'm carefully considering this. Ahahaha.

Exactly!

I haven't really watched either of them in years, so I wasn't too traumatized by the experience. I am amazed by the dedication some people put into such things, though. I mean, that video must be hours and hours of work. I wonder if they'll ever go and watch the Muppets again and feel strange.

Plus, at least one Muppet movie always gets shown at Christmas. Always.

There could be a story in this, you know. XD

Alas, poor Kermit. I'm generally pretty immmune to these parodies (Robot Chicken is love), but this was just so stark and disturbing.

And I'm enough of a Muppet nerd to know that Rowlf and Kermit were both voiced and performed by Jim Henson himself, which just makes the oral sex all the more mind-bending.

...I did not know that. You're right, it makes it all the worse.

Oh, also! Remember Gonzo's version of Romeo and Juliet you mentioned a while back? Well, it started in Japan a few days and the first raw episode is now up. It can be directly downloaded here (http://misskirie.livejournal.com/8670.html), except I think there are a few other torrents around as well. It looks so good, though I wasn't sure of the opening theme at first, but it kind of grows on you. I really, really hope a subbing group takes it on. *_*

From: [identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com
Ahhhhh, awesome! Oh, I wish my Japanese was better than it is, because I won't understand anything. But still, there's always just watching the pretty pictures. Thank you!

I understood a little bit, but the whole "follow the pictures and guess" way worked better than I thought it would. It popped into my head today and I decided to go rewatch the trailer, realised they had episode numbers up, and then went to hunt for raw direct download links as torrents don't work for me. It was worth it, though. :D

Eee, cool. I do hope someone translates it soon; it seems like Gankutsuou got subbed very quickly, but I'm not sure if "quickly" was weeks or months or what.

I thought the Kermit video would be him being emo and angsty, as per the song. I did not expect that. I need to bleach my brain now.

Date: 2007-04-08 05:54 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com
Yeah, that was my reaction, too. It's really quite impressive how very disturbing that video manages to be.

From: [identity profile] parallactic.livejournal.com
With some distance to blunt my memory, the video has a twisted, disturbing brilliance. I mean, just how did the person manage to get a puppet to look like he's throwing up?

Date: 2007-04-09 12:11 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com
Good point. I was particularly impressed by the bit when Kermit was shooting up; it just seemed like it would require a lot of dexterity to get a puppet to move in such a way. But the whole thing is really an amazing production, particularly when you consider what a strange topic it is. I wonder if it was just for fun, or if the makers did it for some sort of class or job?

Date: 2007-04-10 05:28 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] parallactic.livejournal.com
Kermit shooting up must have taken a lot of outtakes, or time just figuring out how to do it. I'm not sure what would motivate someone to do this, except that they must have been really dedicated to it.
