1. No, I wasn't planning on it, really. I usually don't; I don't care that much and I don't want anyone to feel obligated to buy me presents. But someone once yelled at me for not having sufficiently warned her when my birthday was, because apparently it made her look bad in front of other people when she didn't know (yes, whatever, she was crazy, it's a long story), so now I always make sure to very publicly announce it with plenty of time.
