Whew. I have successfully hosted a new student and survived, though I am now insanely sleep-deprived, though I now have an enormous backlog of internet things to read and respond to, though now my every insecurity has been ramped up because the new students are clearly much more experienced/well-connected/articulate/social/older*/cooler/better human beings in general than me.

This is how tired I am right now: I was walking across an intersection and glanced up the street. It's been raining mildly, off and on, all day, and there was a strange pattern to the clouds, with patches of thicker, darker ones between thinner areas where some sunlight was coming through. These streaks of dark and light ran north in bands, creating a sort of rippling effect, and off in the distance underneath them was the Chrysler building, but faded to a sepia monotone by the rain and mist between it and me. So I was looking at this, and thinking oh pretty and trying to think of how to put it into words, and I ran straight-on, face-first into someone walking the other way, hard enough for both of us to bounce back. I was not even wearing headphones to slightly excuse being in a daze. How sad is that?

I'd take a nap, but first I am going to go and get something to eat.

*The older thing is totally a new insecurity for me, by the way. I never used to care about age because I thought age and maturity were two unrelated elements that only happened to occasionally coincide and obviously anyone who insisted on confusing the two was being simple-minded. And then people started continually saying things to me like "You're how old? Oh. Never mind, then" and I became convinced that everyone thinks I am a baby-newbie-something else terrible.

While I, on the other hand, am thanking my lucky stars that everyone seems to think I'm four or five years younger than I actually am so my being on this internship with all the fresh-out-of-college folks doesn't seem too weird.

And hey, if they say, "When did you graduate?" and I say, "March!" it's not a lie, right?

Hey, I think 22 is a great age to be.

I've got a theory that there's a sleeping-flu virus on the loose:) Because I just woke up. It's noon here! I feel weird:-]

And hey, being the youngest means being spoiled!:-D I really miss being the youngest student in the whole university (just because my mother put me in the kindergarten a year earlier:p), it's funny:)

Ha!

Yeah, people keep telling me I'll appreciate looking younger when I'm older, but man, I want gratification now!

Hee, that sounds like a good theory to me.

I wish it did! No one spoils me.
