I got an excellent, wonderful, gorgeous story for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide: Unveiled (Swordspoint, PG, spoilers for Privilege of the Sword). It is amazing, and everyone must go read it right now, because it's really that good. The language is so lovely; I'm half-convinced that it must have been written by someone I know, because I can't believe a stranger could write something to my taste this well. The images! A story about blindness shouldn't be this pretty, but oh, it is, and so perfect.

I'll have more recs once I manage to be on the computer for more than five minutes at a time. I'd offer flash-fiction for anyone who can guess which story I wrote, but I suspect the people who would be most likely to try are already disqualified by virtue of my having, well, essentially told them which I wrote. Other people may feel free to try, though!

I'm sort of secretly hoping that you write the utterly amazing, fantastic Gankutsuou fic (if you did not write this, you damn better have read it by now), the fic I did not apparently realise I was waiting for. On the other hand, if it really was you and you managed to churn that out in so little time, I would possibly go slightly insane. And then beg and weep for you to write more.

On the other hand, there's also about five other stories I'm hoping you wrote. You didn't manage to get Robin Hobb this yeaqr, did you?

God, I wish I'd written the Gankutsuou story. It was genius, and too lovely, and so absolutely perfect; it really felt like a ball. But yeah, I'm amazed at what some people have been able to do in such a short time. I'm pretty sure that I know who wrote one of the ones that's been getting rec'd all over, and she did it in just a few hours!

I always sign up for Robin Hobb and I never get it. It's sad. I quite liked the Liveship Traders story someone wrote; have you read that one yet?

I love the politics of Gankutsuou and the tangled webs that all the characters have, and to see if done so well was nothing less than divine. I fully intend on absolutely fangirling the author when the reveals go up.

I have to admit I'm pretty pleased with the reception received by the fics I wrote, especially since there's over a 1,000 stories to wade through this year. I'm pretty sure I helped my deadline karma a lot this year.

I've read the Farseer ones so far and I'll be moving on to the Liveship one soon. I'm also really pleased with the Temeraire stories this year, and not a little ashamed that I am now desperately craving Laurence/Napoleon from them because it's been done so well. God.

Also, I've beenmeaning to ask you: I've been tinkering away at my own original stuff for the last few days (no deadlines! bliss) and I think I'm at the point where I need to show what I have to someone. It's about five thousand words and almost ready to go (I have to fix an unintentional and needless info dump in the current scene) if I could send it to you?

It was genius. I've got several authors who I can't wait to figure out who they are, and go read everything else they've written.

Mine's doing alright. I still wish I could have done better, but I've gotten enough comments to reassure me that it's not as terribly as I was convinced (though I still haven't reread it since I uploaded it, because now I'm afraid of looking at, so some of the comments I'm getting are confusing me; I keep thinking "really? I don't remember writing that.") I saw the one of yours I know on a rec list! Congrats!

Oooo. I haven't read the Laurence/Napoleon one. I'll have to go hunt that down. I really liked the one with Jane and Emily Roland.

Yes! I'd love to see your original stuff!
