General real-life news
Nov. 27th, 2006 07:58 pmRight now I should be working on the presentation I have to give tomorrow, but as I've spent insane amounts of time recently finishing up the final project/presentation I had to give an hour ago, I'm procrastinating. Be glad that I've put off the urge to write fanfiction.
Actually, no. You all would probably prefer the fanfiction. But for whatever reason, LJ posts feel less like I'm deliberately ignoring work and more like I'm just taking a break, so LJ posts are what you get.
I got back this afternoon. It is indicative of my weekend that my first thought on entering the city was, "Lovely. It's so peaceful here." which I imagine is not a common reaction, but at least I wasn't in any car accidents on the way back from the airport. Probably because I was in a train instead of a bus. In addition to the general drama of travel, family and Thanksgiving (which, this comic is the best thing ever) and dying of the ague (I am mostly recovered now! Thank you all) and working on the project, I was a bridesmaid in a wedding yesterday. I think I had five billion photographs taken of me, and people put makeup on me and did things to my hair which left it still funky today. I can offer no further details, because I am incomptant at being feminine; I don't even own makeup, or curlers, or hairspray, or bobby pins, so the arcane details of their use is beyond my ken. I might post some, once I get copies, as I probably will not appear in a dress and high heels again until the next decade (which I am eager for, by the way. I like decades that have names; I'm still not sure what we're supposed to call the 2000's. "The aughts" sounds so Victorian).
It was a very good time, though. Particularly the dancing. Someone remind me why I haven't gone clubbing in the last few months, because I enjoy dancing way too much to let so much time pass without it.
