YOU CAN SKIP YOUR CLASSES?!? Oh my God, I am so jealous. My classes are all so small and involved that I can't get away with not going, even when I was dying of fever last week, unless I want my professors to start emailing me with "So, what's up? Why didn't you come to class today? Is it because you suck and want me to have to fail you?"

Imagine that many stories on Christmas Day! Wow!

Yeah! I've been skipping classes since I started my undergrad. Granted, there's 19 people in mine, so I can get away with it, but friends of mine have 4 and 8 people respectively in theirs and can't. Well, in my xase it's wasn't so much skipping, but waking up with a migraine and being so depressed I wanted to die, but. Besides, one of the people in my course lives on the floor below me, so we've been picking up sheets and swapping notes as he was sick last week and missed an entire week. Handy. :D

I plan on finishing it tomorrow. :)

Eee! It'll be so much fun to read.

I used to skip all the time in undergrad- I had this one Biology class that had about 500 students at was at 8:30 in the morning, which I just completely stopped going to. I'd show up for tests and labs, and that was it; I was so bad about it- but I can no longer do so. ;_; But at least ours only meet once a week, so it's not really that terribly hard to go to all of them.

Well, I'm a lot better than I used to be in my undergrad because I'm actually paying for this, but our essays depend far more on secondary reading than notes, so.

Y'know, I was just thinking about how odd having Temeraire as one of the fandoms in Yuletide is because, well, of Certain Author's Alter-Ego. That would be really weird. That said, I still plan on writing my "Temeraire and Laurence discuss politics, Burke and Paine, and try to untangle Temeraire's strange liberal notions" fic one of these days. ♥

Ah, I see. We're pretty much the same way, but the difference is that once you've done the secondary readings, you're expected to come and debate the theories right away, rather than just writing an essay on them later. But there's not a lot of actual lecturing; I've taken, like, three pages of notes all semester.

It does seem strange, but hey- at least this way we know the author doesn't mind! (Wouldn't it be funny if she was signed up under a secret name and got assigned to write Temeraire fic?) I signed up for it myself; it would be fun to do something in that world.

We're sort of that way, too. (Though I mainly contribute wisecracks rather than intelligent speak. *facepalms*) Though there are three in the class who always have to give their opinion, so it's sort of a battle for the rest of us to get in. But that's always the case. I've taken very little notes, too, since it's not really lectures anymore.

I'm very amused by what I ended up getting. Not particularly unhappy (though I know it's a fandom that will get me very little reviews and will be ignored in the reccing stage, sadly) as I can get rid of a fic idea I've put away for around three years. That said, I'm blank about who I can get to beta for me. (And, no, I didn't get Swordspoint or Temeraire. Damn it.)

Hee, yeah. There's always some people who talk more than others. You know what drives me crazy, though? The people who don't have anything essential to contribute to the discussion, so they make a point of asking 'intelligent' questions so the professor notices them, when really they're just off on their own tangent and delaying any progress that was being made.

Hey, you never know. When I wrote a Hero, it ended up on some people's rec lists, and I thought that was a fandom that would be completely ignored. And of course, people can always do plot/grammar betas for you, even without knowing the canon. BUT OMG I'M SO AMUSED BY WHAT I GOT. What it always this fast? It seems like I remember having to wait to get your assignment.

Well, it's also a fandom that needs more decently written fic and less character butchering, damn it, so I'm happy. And now I'm intrigued by your assignment! And, yeah, I remember having to wait a few days for assignments to be sent out - I was all, "Wait, we're getting them now? What?"

I feel better that I am not the only one who loathes them. I generally roll my eyes behind their back and sigh to myself, like the spoiled arrogant brat I clearly long to be. Sporking would be way more fun, though.

I'm curious about yours, too! This whole keeping-a-secret thing is hard.
