Guy sitting next to me #1: What are you going to be for Halloween?
Guy sitting next to me #2: I don't know. I hate the holiday. People just use Halloween as an excuse to be sluts.

Dude, don't denigrate that! Dressing up as a skanky ho on Halloween is an ancient and respectable tradition. Come on, you act like being half-naked at the end of October is something to be ashamed of.

Speaking of, who's dressing up for Halloween? Tell me your costume ideas! Help entertain me as I write.

V, from V for Vendetta. I will be the shortest masked anarcho-terrorist ever.

Oh, that is an awesome idea! I've seen a few of those costumes for sale; I hope I run into some people wearing them.

I haven't seen any for sale! I'm making my own, and it's very time-consuming.

Wow. I'm so impressed; I can't sew anything. Besides, I'm sure yours will look much better than something sold in CVS.

I'm going to be a Customer Care Consultant acting like she really cares~!

Oh wait, I do that everyday...

Seriously, I have to work that night. So sad... ; . ;

Well, wear a costume to work! Besides, most Halloween activites aren't on the day itself. My city has never held trick-or-treat on Halloween, though I don't know how New York arranges it.

They have to! Man, how cool would that be? Going to buy some coffee and getting it served to you by a ninja. I would be very much pleased if that happened to me.

I love walking around in a Halloween costume.

Because I'm supposed to be writing a paper! Although I guess that's not really happening anyway...

I'm going to be Zorro. Only short. And sans sexy accent...

But there'll be a hat and a sword. :)

EXCELLENT COSTUME!

You know, I'd been considering dressing up as Alec from Swordspoint, but alas, he does not dress like a skanky ho, and I do so love using Halloween as an excuse to be a slut. Still, I should totally get someone to be a swordsman and be my sidekick.

You could always modify? For example, I don't think Zorro ever wore a frilly shirt or a black bra BUT! He's going to this Halloween.

You could always be "Alec, Skanky Ho Version (tm)".

Ha! Dude, I love your version of Zorro.

I thought of doing that, but I'm can't imagine what it would consist of. I'm going to be Milady from the Three Musketeers, because she is evil and awesome and canonically a skanky ho. Fun all around!

Via [livejournal.com profile] ellen_kushner with, all right, the help of a random generator I see I am expected to dress as Nicole Kidman. I am not at all sure that this plan is going to work, no matter how many slinky gowns I have stashed away, but there you have it.

If I were in New York, though, I'd give serious thought to seeing whether I could make a recognizable Hisoka. I'm short enough, and pale enough, my hair is in the range of the right color, and even I've got the key elements of the costume. On the other hand, I would have to get my hair cut, and although I bet Hisoka's haircut would look better on me than what I've got, I like having long hair in the winter.

So it's probably just as well that no one here would get it, bizarrely tempting though it would be.

Oh, what a neat generator! But you know, I'm not sure how anyone could recognizably dress up as Nicole Kidman. Even if you had the height and the hair and slinky dress, there's so many other blonde celebrities that I don't know how you'd communicate specifically Kidman and not a dozen others.

You should be Hisoka! Who cares if anyone recognizes it? I was Konzen last year, though at least with him I simply claimed to be a bodhisattva when I didn't want to bother explaining. I'm not sure if there's a short explanation for Hisoka.

Also, you're more dedicated than me, if you'd cut your hair for Halloween. Though I suppose I have dyed it.

Ah, well, you saw that I was relieved to have the temptation removed, because I'm not sure I'm dedicated enough to cut my hair just to make a Halloween costume work.

But the thing is, it would be that or a wig, and a wig that would look right would be far more trouble than the haircut. Although now that I think further about the problem, I suppose I could always wear a kimono, put a dark temporary rinse in the hair I have, and be Hisoka dressing up for Halloween as Oriya.

That would be an excellent costume! It would provide a simple explanation too: anyone not familiar with Yami could assume you were just a geisha.

You must have quite a lot of hair, then, and I could certainly see why you wouldn't want to cut it. I'm jealous; mine always stops growing around my shoulder blades.

Hisoka dressing up for Halloween as Oriya.

BEST HALLOWEEN COSTUME EVER. :D

I was Tsuzuki a while back, with my hair too long and the wrong colour and no contacts. ^_^

If I can find a sheet, I am going to do the traditional ghost costume. Because I've always wanted to, and it'll be fun to chase small children around at the school Halloween party. :D

That's a neat idea! As much as you see the ghost costume on TV and movies, I've never seen anyone actually wear one.

Last time I dressed up for Halloween, I was the Wicked Queen from Sleeping Beauty, complete with the long pike-thing, long dress, etc. Never have I been hit on so much in my life. It was a lot of fun, actually, and I do love that character, but I hadn't intended it to be a....hot outfit per se. Interesting side effect. Guess I should dress as a villainess more often.

Ooo, good choice. But I can see why that would be a hot costume, she's very cool.

Guy #2 clearly never got any on Halloween.

I have a cheongsam I'm hoping to get into by October 31. WISH ME LUCK.

Clearly.

GOOD LUCK! That is an awesome costume, by the way. I like the idea.
