From [livejournal.com profile] tad_coast:
1. Take the book (physically) closest to you.
2. Open it to page 123.
3. Find the 5th sentence.
4. Post the sentence here and the instructions in your journal.
5. Don't try to find a cool book, just take the closest one.

"This is seen as a means of helping to overcome prejudices that affect the formulation of middle-range hypotheses as well as undue dependence on specific high-level theories of human behavior, none of which has won overwhelming support among social scientists." - Bruce Trigger, Artifacts & Ideas: Essays in Archaeology.

Fascinating!

Your sentence gives me all kinds of painful flashbacks.

It's from a book that one of my professors is using to go over the history of European colonization of Southese Asia. Technically, I should have finished it by last Tuesday, but I keep getting distracted by interesting things.

Namely, the other eight books for the class. Why is it that the really fun books aren't covered for another two months?
