Committee votes to send constitutional amendment — which would prohibit states from recognizing same-sex marriages — to the full Senate

Okay, there's really no chance this is going to pass through Congress, much less get enough states to ratify it, but what the fuck? Seriously, how the hell has it even gotten this far, because it's certainly not like we don't have enough crazy governmental scandals at the moment. And why have I not heard anything about it before today? It is incredibly disturbing to glance over the Yahoo headlines and see one proclaiming "Senate committee approves constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage", let me tell you.
