Ugh, cleaning...
Aug. 28th, 2002 04:37 pmI hate to clean. Really. Which makes it all the worse since now I have to do extra work for the past ten years that I've put off cleaning.
Not that I haven't cleaned at all in ten years. But the real, deep-down, scrub every corner, get under every dresser and behind every bed... well, it's been a while.
The worst is my closet. When I was little, 8 or 9, I was told to clean my room by my parents. I decided to just shove every piece of trash, every extra book, every game, every puzzle, every headless barbie into my closet. All this shit fused together to become a knee-deep pile of trash that has been there since. It was embarrassing, yeah, but I'm lazy. My friends thought it was funny- they'd make me show it to them every time they came over, like it was going to change. But I never had enough willpower to motivate myself into taking on such a huge project.
Until now. I'm now on the third day of working on this closet. It might move quicker, but I can only work on it for about three hours before I become convinced that if I don't take a break, my brain will escape out of my ears from sheer boredom.
All of which leads me to the point of this entry, which is to reccommend Yahtzee's new story, The Uninvited Guest. Because it made me happy during those breaks, and took my mind off cleaning. And cuz it's really a great story.
