In an attempt to get comments, because a full inbox makes me happy, I'm joining in with one of the memes going around.

Of course, the surest way to get comments would be for me to write something, but at the moment I've just spent eight hours with my extended family and am less in the mood to write than I am in the mood to avoid all human contact and snarl at people who touch me. Also, I have just found out that I have to work every day from now until next Sunday, and I loathe each of my coworkers (okay, there's only two other people who work my shift, so it's not really great crowds of people who I'm hating on here, but I hate them both so much that the intensity of it makes up for the small numbers) so much that the best possible solution to this problem appears to me to be if the store burnt down with them inside it, so I doubt I'll be writing anything in the near future either.

Anyway, as I was trying to have a point other than spewing rage: ask me anything! And I will answer unless I don't feel like it. Comment anonymously if you'd like; IP logging is, as always, turned off.

If you had to choose between writing or reading, which would you pick and why? (meaning, you could either just write your own stuff and not read anyone else's, or you could just read everyone else's and not write your own)

Oh, interesting question!

I suppose I'd choose reading, because, though I wouldn't like it, it'd be possible for me to stop writing, but I'm not sure I could handle never reading anything. I don't think I have quite the same drive to write that I've seen other people describe; I like to tell stories, but I don't have any complusion to do so, I don't get itchy or anything if I can't write.

Although, of course, maybe I'd find out I needed it a lot more than I think if I couldn't do it anymore. *grins* I'd still have to say reading, though. I don't think I could make it through a week without reading anything, much less for the rest of time.

What are three of your favorite poets? Three of your favorite poems?

Hmmm. ee cummings, Rumi, and Pablo Neruda (and undoubtly there's someone I like even better that I'm forgetting at the moment, but these are the three I thought of at the moment).

Three poems are 'Sailing to Byzantium' by Yeats, 'I carry your heart with me' by cummings (both of which I had memorized at one point, but I don't think I could recite them at the moment), and 'Like This' by Rumi.

Ha, I hoped this would happen -- you see, secretly this was all very self-serving *g* -- I hadn't read any Rumi in so long that it scares me ^^

I have a weird relationship with Rumi. I never like the whole of any of his poems- there'll always be something in there that bugs me, one line I can't stand, or one that just isn't perfect, anything to keep me from liking it as a whole.

And yet, there are single lines and images in his work that I love so much my entire copy of his books are covered with post-it notes and highlighter marks.

And oh, how I wish LJ let you edit comments. I can't believe I managed to use 'at the moment' three times in two sentences.

Heh. Terrible as in actually horrible, or terrible as in so-bad-it's-good?

For the first, it's Battlefield Earth, which was so bad that it's an injoke in my family: nothing is ever as bad as watching that movie was. Fortunately, I've repressed all memories of the dialouge.

For the second, I'll say 'Unleashed', the cheesy Jet Li action movie that came out earlier this year. OMG the angst! Raised as an animal! Forced to fight for his master's entertainment! But will true love and family togetherness save him?

Sam: [teaching Danny about melons] It's also saying "I am ripe." You know what ripe means, don't you?
Danny: No.
Sam: Ripe means sweet, and sweet means good.
Danny: The kiss was ripe!

Delicious beverage of the gods!

We bought a carton of it over the weekend, and the entire thing is already gone, and I didn't get any of it! This is obviously a great wrong that Shall Be Avenged.

*Hugs* Sounds like the stress-o-meter is going through the roof there!

Not good at thinking up questions, I'm afraid!

How did you survive high school?

Heeeee. Good question!

By withdrawing into books and music, having incredibly low expectations of other people and only the superficiliest of relationships, and obsessing over what college would be like.
