[livejournal.com profile] reading_genji: [livejournal.com profile] rachelmanija started it, and then [livejournal.com profile] telophase joined in, and now there are multiple funny and intelligent people reading The Tale of Genji and doing chapter-by-chapter recaps. Lots of fun.

Also! A [livejournal.com profile] useless_facts I learned today: 'May You Live in Interesting Times' is not a real saying.

"May you live in interesting times" occurs in Ernest Bramah's The Wallet of Kai Lung (1900), a series of tales set in a wholly imagined version of China - hence the belief that it is genuine Chinese curse. It is the first of three progressively more awful curses. The others are "May you come to the attention of those in high places" and "May the gods grant your prayers".

eta: Almost forgot to say! If you don't have [livejournal.com profile] radiofreebanri friended, go do so right now. Scans of the latest chapter of Saiyuki Reload, and oh, sweet, sweet cliffhanger.
