I finished my paper!

...and it's only 8:30am. Sleep deprivation is fun. You all should try it. Although there is something about the way all the light slants just after dawn, white and clear and brilliant as ice, that makes the whole world seem empty and new.

Yes, yes, I'm just spamming of of your flists with posts at this post. Indulge me; my class is in less than an hour and I'm bored and I don't have enough time to sleep.

Wow, that game is addicting. But I can't get above 310 or so.

Time for a rousing chorus of Who Needs Sleep!

*blows the starting note on kazoo*

*genki mode*

Who needs sleep?
Never gonna get it.
Who needs sleep?
What's that for?
Who needs sleep?
Might as well forget it.
There's a guy who's been awake since the second world war!

I do try it. Routinely. Sometimes it does interesting, useful things to your brain, and early morning light is astonishingly beautiful.

If only it weren't for that annoying thing that happens later, when you start putting things down and having them vanish into an alternate dimension that doesn't even exist when you've had enough sleep, I wouldn't ever try to get more than two hours of sleep a night.

Oh, and if you're bored and have nothing to do? Where are those measurements, hmm??

:( And here I thought I was being cool when I stayed up until 6:15 this morning to write a paper for my 8 am class. You win.

Ha! That's wonderful! I've never heard it before- did you make that up?

*laughs* I like sleep, but I wish it didn't take quite so long. 8 hours every day! I could be doing so many other things with that time.

And I know, I know. I feel terrible about it, because I know I shouldn't be taking this long. But once I found measuring tape and tried to do it myself, I realized that I didn't know anywhere near enough about sewing or measuring to be able to follow the directions. I've been trying to bribe my roommate-who actually has experience with such things- into helping me, but the times when we're in the room together and not busy with something else are few and far between. I am so sorry; I feel terribly guilty over this.

Well, I did pause to nap for an hour or two, which disqualifies me. So you win after all. *grins*

No, no, you weren't supposed to feel guilty! I was teasing. It's not as though it isn't going to take me heaven only knows how long once I do have those measurements. Besides, yesterday afternoon I found somewhat clearer supplemental directions, proving that procrastination can be everybody's friend.

And yes, sewing measurements are a huge pain to take, and having a second person helps tremendously. I'd wait for your roommate too. I've actually found advice for professionals that claims that ideally, you want three people to take a set of measurements -- that is, three besides the person being measured -- two to take the measurements and be sure they're written down accurately, and a third to talk to the person being fitted, and make sure she's distracted enough not to hold her breath every single time you try to get a waist measurement.

Besides, this way I can probably send you a swatch before I cut anything, and we can get a check on skin tone. So, you see? It's better this way anyway.

No, it's a... um... *looks it up* Barenaked Ladies song.

A friend of mine from college liked to sing it around exam time. I picked it up from her. *g*

It's great; I'll have to see if I can find a copy of the actual song.
